    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deflection yoke and a color cathode ray tube device capable of effectively converging electron beam and improving an image characteristics at whole image surface. SOLUTION: A vacuum envelope has an almost truncated pyramid-shaped yoke mounting part, and the deflection yoke mounted to the yoke mounting part is formed symmetrically with respect to the central axis and has a pair of saddle-shaped horizontal deflection coils 30a, 30b formed into almost truncated pyramid shape, symmetrically arranged to a central axis. An almost truncated cone-shaped magnetic core 34 is formed coaxial with the central axis to the outer periphery of the horizontal deflection coil. A pair of vertical deflection coils are wound on the magnetic core in toroidal shape. In the direction of circumference having a center at central axis, when designating the angle of a horizontal axis perpendicularly crossing the central axis as 0° and the angle of a vertical axis perpendicularly crossing the central axis and the vertical axis as 90°, respective windings of vertical deflection coils locates within the angle ranging from 5° to 30° measured from a starting point at the horizontal axis side, and wound so as to continuously or intermittently distribute from the starting point up to 90°. SOLUTION: Hole diameter of a coincidence part of a large hole and a small hole of a shadow mask for practically deciding size of the electron beam passing through an open hole is gradually increased from the center of the effective surface to an intermediate part, and gradually reduced from the intermediate part to the longitudinal end thereof, and the hole diameter provided over from the center to the longitudinal end through the intermediate part is formed with the maximum at the intermediate part. With this structure of shadow mask, deterioration of mechanical strength of the shadow mask flattened in response to the flat effective part of a panel is restricted, and hole diameter of a coincidence part of the large diameter and the small diameter for practically deciding size of the electron beam passing through the open hole can be appropriated.
