    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a separating medium for reversed-phase chromatography in a single-stage reaction by polymerizing an aqueous vinyl monomer mixture containing both a specified hydrophobic alkyl methacrylate and a specified detergent. SOLUTION: The production process comprises the steps of: forming a mixture containing a water-soluble monomer (1) selected from the group consisting of vinyl monomers, acrylic monomers and methacrylic monomers, a crosslinking agent (2), an alkyl methacrylate (3) with a 3-30C alkyl and detergent (4) in an aqueous medium and polymerizing components (1) to (3) of the mixture in a single stage reaction. It is desirable that the total amount of components (1) to (3) is 2-50wt.%, and that the molar fraction of the crosslinking agent based on the total of components (1) to (3) is 0.10-0.70. The amount of the alkyl methacrylate is desirably 0.003-0.3 in terms of a molar ratio to the total of components (1) to (3).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical slab gel electrophoretic device which can be assembled with an extremely small number of steps, precisely arrange gel to the other part of the device, and ensure the sealing so that the exposed upper edge and lower edge of the gel are sufficiently brought into contact with a proper electrode buffer solution, and the buffer solution is never leaked. SOLUTION: A slab gel in parallel plate gel nipping bodies 12, 13 is arranged in an electrophoretic cell and sealed with high reliability by relatively little manual operation so that the slab gel is sufficiently brought into contact with electrode buffer solutions in the upper and lower parts, and the buffer solution is never leaked. The gel nipping bodies 12, 13 are pressed onto an inner frame 14 to form an upper buffer solution chamber, and the inner frame 14 is inserted into an outer clamp frame 22, wherein the pressure between the gel nipping bodies 12, 13 and the inner frame 14 is kept by a pressure plate 23 operated by cams 24, 25. The clamp frame 14 is put into a tank working as a lower buffer solution chamber.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a phosphor screen having flat and smooth surface on which an image data can be recorded clearly with high sensitivity. SOLUTION: A flat and smooth sheet 12 is coated with phosphor in liquid state and laminated under adhesive state without bonding. The phosphor layer 21 is then hardened with the sheet 12 being set on the underside and a board 30 is bonded to the exposed surface 36. The sheet 12 laminated on the phosphor layer 21 is then removed to finish a smooth exposed surface. It is coated, as required, with a transparent protective layer. Since phosphor particles are collected on the flat and smooth surface and no particle project from the surface, the screen is useful for recording a data clearly with high sensitivity.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an aspirator system that can maintain high negative pressure even under continuous operation for many hours. SOLUTION: In a circulating type aspirator system, aspirators 17, 18 and a pump 16 for feeding water to the aspirators are arranged on the outside of a water tank 11, and the aspirators 17, 18 and pump 16 are connected to the water tank by piping. A cooling circuit 32 formed of a pump 31 and a condenser 33 so as to cool and return water from the tank 11 is provided on the outside of the tank 11. With this layout, the temperature of water circulated in the aspirator system is lowered to improve the efficiency of the aspirators.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out electrophoresis in a short time without sacrifice of separation by employing a buffer having specified low conductivity. SOLUTION: When a buffer having low conductivity is employed, difficulties encountering in case of ordinary butter are decreased and the electrophoresis can be carried out with high field strength. The buffer imparting low conductivity includes (1). a butter containing fewer charge group per single molecule, preferably, having relatively high molecular weight, (2). bipolar electrolyte carrier demarcated to a narrow pH range through isoelectric convergence, (3). a bipolar electrolytic butter having low molecular weight at isoelectric point, and (4). a high molecular weight bipolar electrolytic butter having such pK value as the acid group thereof is same as or very close to the basic group. Preferably, the voltage is 1000-5000V/cm and the conductivity of butter is 2×10 S/cm-10×10 S/cm.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a device which is available in laboratories, has few moving parts, is high in reliability and accurate, and can reproduce a next gel from a gel. CONSTITUTION: The gradient gel of electrophoresis is manufactured by this device in which a pair of syringes 21, 22 are disposed on a susceptor 12 provided with a synchronously rotating cam 32. Cam trailing parts engaged with the cam 32 are jointed to barrels 23, 24 of the syringes and a spiral path of each cam is transduced into a rate of volume discharged from the syringes 21, 22 by each cam trailing part as the cam 32 rotates. When the discharges from the syringes 21, 22 are compounded into a common stream and directly connected with a housing part of the gel for solidifying the gel, a gradient or other variation in composition is obtained with the rate set by the cam 32. The gradient or variation in the composition is determined by curves of the cam 32 and is independent of the rotation rate of the cam 32 and the uniformity of the rotation. This device is designed as a manually operating device having high accuracy and high reproducability.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an automated clinical analyzer suitable for performing a large number of clinical analyses. CONSTITUTION: Containers for an analytical reagent, a sample obtained from a patient, a control and a standard substance are supported on one circular conveyor 32 and a porous reactioncontainer 34 is supported on another circular conveyor 31. These two circular conveyors 31, 32 have a common shaft 14 and they are driven through individual operating mechanisms. The reactioncontainer 34 is surrounded by a temperature control room 33 in order to monitor and control the temperature of all reaction containers 34 on the circular conveyor 31. The two circular conveyors 31, 32 are turned according to a program and the containers for various reagents and the reaction containers are conveyed to positions corresponding to various work stations. The work station is provided with a cleaning tube, a liquid transport and a detection system which are under control of a program.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To determine the representative value of the movability and relative amt. of a solute by immediately moving a capillary tube in the direction opposite to the moving direction of the solute after all of solute peaks pass through a detection window to be detected by a detector to match next detection with the beam of the detector. CONSTITUTION: A capillary tube 12 is composed of fused silica and the outer surface thereof is coated with polyimide 22 and a polyimide film is intermittent and pervious to UV rays and four short uncoated segments 23-26 acting as detection windows are left. The movement of a solute is generated in the direction shown by an arrow 27. A system component is arranged in order to detect the solute through a first detection window 23. Immediately after all of solutes pass through said window, the capillary tube is moved in the direction shown by an arrow 28 toward an UV light source 18 and an optical diode detector 19 until the second detection window 24, the light source and an optical diode are matched. The peak passing through the detector 24 is recorded and, thereafter, the capillary tube 12 is again moved in the same direction and the light source and the detector are matched and the capillary tube moves to the third and fourth windows.
