Abstract: PURPOSE: A backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device with the same are provided to improve color reproduction and color purity by adding semiconductor nano-crystals into a photo conversion layer. CONSTITUTION: A light conversion layer(130) being separated from a light emitting diode light source(LDE light source)(110) sends white light onto a liquid crystal panel(500) converting the LED light source into the white light. The photo conversion layer contains a semiconductor nano-crystal and a matrix polymer. The matrix polymer has a polymer in which the first monomer and the second monomer are polymerized. The first monomer has two or more of thiol groups at a terminal. The second monomer has two or more of carbon-carbon unsaturated bonding at a terminal.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A semiconductor nanocrystal-polymer micronized complex is provided to improve the efficiency and thermal stability of the device by efficiently protecting the semiconductor nanocrystals by including a polymer that surrounds the semiconductor nanocrystals. CONSTITUTION: A semiconductor nanocrystal-polymer micronized complex(10) comprises at least one semiconductor nanocrystal(12), and a polymer(14) that surrounds at least one semiconductor nanocrystal. The polymer has at least one functional group that may react with the semiconductor nanocrystal. The semiconductor nanocrystal-polymer micronized complex has a size of 70Mm or less, a standard deviation of 20Mm or less, and an aspect ratio that is greater than 1-10 or less. A manufacturing method of the semiconductor nanocrystal-polymer micronized complex comprises the following steps: (a) the semiconductor nanocrystal is reacted in a polymer solution; and (b) the resulting product is filtered, dried, and cryogenic-milled to obtain the semiconductor nanocrystal-polymer micronized complex.

Abstract: PURPOSE: A semiconductor nanocrystal composite is provided to maintain unique properties of the semiconductor nanocrystal by preventing oxygen and water from penetrating into the composite and to improve the stability and lifespan of an application device. CONSTITUTION: A semiconductor nanocrystal composite comprises a matrix(1) including a semiconductor nanocrystal(2) and a blocking layer(3) which is coated on the matrix and includes a polymer having low oxygen transmission rate and moisture permeability. The polymer is a transparent hydrophobic polymer. The oxygen transmission rate of the polymer is 10,000 mL/m^2/day or less at relative humidity 0% and 100,000 mL/m^2/day or less at relative humidity 90%.
