    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an ink containing an anionic dye, a liquid medium, a compound forming a slightly water soluble complex with a polyvalent metal and a water-soluble inorganic sulfate, having storage stability and discharge stability and suitable for ink jet type printer, etc. CONSTITUTION: This ink contains (A) an anionic dye, preferably a dye having at least one or more COOM groups (M is an alkali metal or a volatile amine) in the molecule, (B) a liquid medium consisting mainly of water, (C) a compound forming a slightly water-soluble complex with a polyvalent metal, preferably a compound of the formula R1 is a 1-48C alkyl or H; R2 is (CH2 )a -X1 [(a) is an integer of 1-4; X1 is a COOM, sulfone, etc.] or H; R3 is (CH2 )a -X2 [(b) is same as (a); X2 is same as X1 ]} and (D) an inorganic sufuric acid salt capable of making the polyvalent metal water-soluble. Furthermore, the ink is stored by a member containing a trace amount of the polyvalent metal (preferably tin).

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous pigment ink which, although containing carbon black as a coloring material, offers a high printing density and a printed image with good image characteristics showing a complete resistance to water and light, has a high storage stability and is stably discharged without any clogging and an ink-jet recording method and device using ink. SOLUTION: An aqueous pigment ink comprises at least a coloring material, a water-soluble organic solvent wherein this coloring material is dispersed and water. The coloring material comprises a self-dispersing carbon black, to the surface of which at least one hydrophilic group is bound directly or through other atomic groups. The average particle size A (nm) and the degree of blackness index B of the self-dispersing carbon black satisfy formulae A>=20 and B/A>=5.0.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water-based pigment ink which is excellent in long-term storage stability, does not clog a nozzle, and exhibits improved delivery stability, jetting accuracy on a recording medium, quality, and fastness by compounding a colorant contg. a self-dispersible carbon black having hydrophilic groups bonded to the surface thereof with a humectant and a water-base medium contg. water and a water-soluble org. solvent. SOLUTION: This ink is prepd. by compounding a colorant contg. a specific carbon black with a water-based medium, a specific humectant, and a surfactant and does not contain a dispersant for dispersing a pigment. As the result of using, as the colorant, an ionic self-dispersible carbon black having at least one kind of hydrophilic group bonded to the surface thereof directly or through other groups of atoms, a dispersant for dispersing the carbon black is not necessary. The humectant used has a structure represented by the formula (wherein m and n are each 1-5). The ink contains 0.1-15wt.% colorant and 1-30wt.% humectant.
