Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain an ink containing an anionic dye, a liquid medium, a compound forming a slightly water soluble complex with a polyvalent metal and a water-soluble inorganic sulfate, having storage stability and discharge stability and suitable for ink jet type printer, etc. CONSTITUTION: This ink contains (A) an anionic dye, preferably a dye having at least one or more COOM groups (M is an alkali metal or a volatile amine) in the molecule, (B) a liquid medium consisting mainly of water, (C) a compound forming a slightly water-soluble complex with a polyvalent metal, preferably a compound of the formula R1 is a 1-48C alkyl or H; R2 is (CH2 )a -X1 [(a) is an integer of 1-4; X1 is a COOM, sulfone, etc.] or H; R3 is (CH2 )a -X2 [(b) is same as (a); X2 is same as X1 ]} and (D) an inorganic sufuric acid salt capable of making the polyvalent metal water-soluble. Furthermore, the ink is stored by a member containing a trace amount of the polyvalent metal (preferably tin).

Abstract: PURPOSE: To improve prevention of clogging, recording stability and storage stability by incorporating a specific compound, a urea, a coloring material and water. CONSTITUTION: This ink is prepared by dissolving 0.05-20wt.% at least one compound selected from compounds of formula I [R , R are each H, alkyl, benzyl, -CH2 CHOH, -CH2 (OH)CH3 ; R , R are each H, methyl; n>=1], compounds of formula II (R is R ; R -R are each H, methyl; n, m are each an integer satisfying m+n>=1), and compounds of formula III (R -R are each H, methyl; m, n, p are each an integer satisfying m+n>=1 and p>=1), 0.5-20wt.% urea and 0.1-15wt.% coloring agent in 50-98wt.% water so that the weight ratio of the compound(s) of formulae I-III to the urea may become 1:1-1:15, and adjusting the pH at 7-10.5.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-quality multicolor image of which the colored inks exhibit almost the same discoloration ΔE after long-time storage, the color balance after long-time storage is destroyed little, and the bleed between a pigment-containing black ink and a color ink is moderated. SOLUTION: An ink set is provided which comprises a black ink containing an aqueous medium and a pigment dispersed therein by the action of an ionic group and at least two color inks each containing a colorant and an aqueous medium. Each of the color inks gives such as image that its light discoloration, expressed by ΔE in a CIELAB color space display system, differs from that of images given by other color inks by 10 or lower. The ΔE is obtained by a light resistance test under such conditions as to cause the discoloration equivalent to that caused by sunlight exposure through a window in a pseudoroom for at least 3 years. At least one color ink contains at least either a colorant or an additive unstabilizing the dispersion of the pigment in the black ink.

SOLUTION: This ink is prepd. by compounding a colorant contg. a specific carbon black with a water-based medium, a specific humectant, and a surfactant and does not contain a dispersant for dispersing a pigment. As the result of using, as the colorant, an ionic self-dispersible carbon black having at least one kind of hydrophilic group bonded to the surface thereof directly or through other groups of atoms, a dispersant for dispersing the carbon black is not necessary. The humectant used has a structure represented by the formula (wherein m and n are each 1-5). The ink contains 0.1-15wt.% colorant and 1-30wt.% humectant.

The ink contains an auto-dispersion type carbon black, in which at least one kind of hydrophilic group is bound on its surface directly or via another atomic group, as coloring material which is dispersed in the ink without needing a dispersant.
