Abstract:
The present invention relates to oral care compositions and methods of inhibiting microbial biofilm formation and/or degrading a microbial biofilm. Disclosed herein are oral care compositions comprising an Amadori compound having a glucose moiety and an amino acid moiety. The Amadori compound has use for inhibiting oral microbial biofilm formation and/or degrading an oral microbial biofilm in the oral cavity of a mammalian subject.
Abstract:
Described herein are packages for storing and dispensing multi-part tooth whitening formulations, comprising a deformable material configured to form two or more sealed chambers, e.g., wherein the first chamber contains a low viscosity liquid solution comprising an enzyme having perhydrolytic activity, and the second chamber contains a peroxide source and a at least one acyl donor substrate. Particular multi-part tooth whitening formulations using this principle and methods of use thereof are also provided.
Abstract:
An oral composition exhibiting increased uptake by dental tissue of antibacterial compounds contained therein and eliminating or substantially reducing the discomfort and pain associated with dentinal hypersensitivity. The composition includes an orally acceptable vehicle for such composition, an effective therapeutic amount of an antibacterial compound, a mixture of anionic surfactant and amphoteric surfactant, the mixture having 0.1 wt. % to 2.0 wt. % anionic surfactant and 0.8 wt. % to 2.0 wt. % amphoteric surfactant, and a potassium ion releasable compound.
Abstract:
An oral composition comprising a vehicle and a zinc ion source in the form of nanoparticles that are substantially non-aggregated and methods for use of such compositions are described. The composition provides antiplaque and anti malodor benefits to the user and the inclusion of nanoparticles permits a reduction in the amount of zinc ions present in the composition while maintaining efficacy.
Abstract:
Tooth-whitening films comprising a hydratable polymer and a whitening agent are disclosed in which the films have a hydrophobic coating on one surface and a tooth-adherent coating on the opposing surface. Flavorings can also be included in the hydratable polymer portion of the film or in either the hydrophobic coating or the tooth-adherent coating. Tooth-whitening methods that use the films are also disclosed. The hydratable polymer preferably is a polyethylene oxide.
Abstract:
A confectionery composition delivering antiplaque agents to the oral cavity when applied thereto, the composition being comprised of a homogeneous mixture of a solid base material and an antibacterial ester having the formula (I); wherein R is an alkyl chain of 1 to 8 carbon atoms and R 1 is an alkyl chain of 6 to 30 carbon atoms and X is an anion.
Abstract:
A thin, flexible film which when applied to stained teeth is hydrated by saliva and is effective in such form to whiten teeth, the film comprising an anhydrous water hydratable ethylene oxide polymer matrix containing a solid peroxide whitening agent whereby upon application to stained tooth surfaces, the peroxide whitening agent is solublilized by saliva present in the oral cavity into active whitening activity when the film is positioned and placed on the teeth.
