    Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a mechanism for handling a handover in a more efficient way. The invention relates to a method in a mobility controller (180) in a radio access network for preparing a handover. The method comprises the following steps to be taken during data transmission between a mobile terminal (140) and a source base station (120), before the handover: Sending a request to a candidate base station (122), which request aims at measuring and reporting timing alignment to be used by the mobile terminal (140) when communicating with the destination base station (122) after the handover, if the candidate base station becomes the destination base station (122) after the handover; receiving a report from the destination base station (122) comprising said requested timing alignment; and when the destination base station (122) is selected among the at least one candidate base stations, sending a message to the mobile terminal (140) to use said timing alignment received from the destination base station (122) when communicating with the destination base station (122) after the handover.

    Abstract: A method for uplink power control at a mobile station which is served by a base station of a communications network comprising a plurality of base stations is provided where the power spectrum density of the mobile station is adaptable based on the bandwidth scheduled to the mobile station. The suggested power spectrum adaptation is obtained by providing for a switch to an alternative power control mode which enables for transmit power boosting at the mobile station. The decision whether to apply the suggested power spectrum adaptation can be made at the base station which is serving the mobile station, or at a selected mobile station.

    Abstract: La presente invención se refiere a un nodo (1) en un sistema de comunicación inalámbrico (2) que comprende por lo menos a primera región de celda (3a) y una segunda región de celda (3b), en donde límites de celda (11, 12) delimitan entre diferentes regiones de celda (3a, 3b, 3c). El nodo (1) comprende por lo menos una primera función de antena (4a) con un primer lóbulo de radiación de antena (5a) y una segunda función de antena (6a) con a segundo lóbulo de radiación de antena (7a), los lóbulos de radiación (5a, 7a) estando dispuestos para cubrir la primera región de celda (3a) al mismo tiempo. Para cada región de celda (3a, 3b, 3c), sólo uno de los lóbulos de radiación de antena (5a, 7a) está destinado para comunicación en cada límite de celda (11, 12). Además, el primer lóbulo de radiación de antena (5a) está dispuesto para señales en una primera banda de frecuencia (f1), y el segundo lóbulo de radiación de antena (7a) está dispuesto para señales en por lo menos una segunda banda de frecuencia (f2), en donde, para cada región de celda (3a, 3b, 3c), sólo un lóbulo de radiación de antena está destinado para comunicación en cada límite de celda (11, 12, 13; 24, 25).

    Abstract: Each base station in a cellular telephone system includes a signal strength measurement device operable to tune to and make signal strength measurements on not only the frequencies allocated to other cells, but also on its own allocated frequencies. Measurements are made by the device on those of its own frequencies having idle traffic channels to obtain an indication of injected uplink interference. An interference penalty is then assessed against the measured uplink interference for those frequencies having more than a threshold number of idle traffic channels. The adjusted measurements for the frequencies allocated to the cell are then sorted in relative order of idle traffic channel (adjusted) measured uplink interference from a least (adjusted) interfered frequency to a most (adjusted) interfered frequency. An idle traffic channel is then selected for assignment at either call set-up or hand-off from the least (adjusted) interfered frequency.
