    Abstract: A base station, comprising a first channelization device to receive data and spread the data with a first channelization code to produce a first spread data field; a second channelization device to receive the same data as the first channelization device and spread the received data with a second channelization code that is different from the first channelization code to produce a second spread data field; a first training sequence device in communication with the first channelization device, the first training sequence device to combine the first spread data field with a first midamble to produce a first communication burst, the first midamble for estimating a channel impulse response; a second training sequence device in communication with the second channelization device, the second training sequence device to combine the second spread data field with a second midamble to produce a second communication burst, the second midamble for estimating a channel impulse response; a first scrambling device to scramble the first spread data field by a scrambling code associated with the base station; a second scrambling device to scramble the second spread data field by the scrambling code associated with the base station; a first diversity antenna to transmit the first communication burst; and a second diversity antenna to transmit the second communication burst.

Data of the received plurality of communication signals is received using the constructed system response matrix.

    Abstract: A system and method for transmitting data symbols in a CDMA communication system including a transmitter having an antenna array and a receiver. The system generates first and second data fields of symbols, then encodes them to produce complex conjugates of the respective symbols. A first communication burst including the first and second data fields, separated by a midamble, over a first antenna, and a second communication burst produced using the complex conjugates of said fir st and second data fields, separated by a midamble, over a second antenna are then transmitted. The receiver receives and, after the first and second burst midambles are canceled, decodes the first and second bursts to recover the first and secon d data fields. A first guard period follows the second data fields of the first burst. A second guard period follows the complex conjugate of the first data fields of the second burst.

    Abstract: A method for the simultaneous reception of data from multiple sources having different spreading factors. A plurality of transmission response matrices are generated and grouped together for equal spreading factors. A plurality of spreading factor group matrices are assembled. A base matrix is formed based upon the spreading factor group matrix having a lowest spreading factor. An additional spreading factor group matrix is selected for consideration. Column placement reference index for the base matrix is derived. A reference location for the base matrix is derived. A column set from the selected spreading factor group matrix is derived. The column set is inserted into the base matrix. A total transmission response matrix is assembled.
