Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an organically modified layered silicic acid salt capable of uniformly dissolving in a non polar solvent, having a sufficient thickening effect and uniformly dispersing into a resin having a low polarity by containing a specific quaternary ammonium ion between the layers of a swelling layered silicic acid salt. SOLUTION: This organically modified layered silicic acid salt having 10 -10 Ω.cm volume resistivity, 23-50Å distance between surfaces, 50nm-8μm particle diameter and >=50meq/100g cation exchanging capacity, is obtained by reacting a swelling layered silicic acid salt having >=10 Ω.cm volume resistivity and >=70meq/100g cation exchanging capacity with an organic ammonium salt of formula I to III (R is a >=8C branched saturated aliphatic alkyl having at least one >=1C alkyl as a side chain; R to R , R , R and R are each H, or a 1-2C alkyl; R , R and R to R are each a >=8C saturated aliphatic alkyl and at least one of them is R ) having 0.5-2.0 fold equivalent to the cation exchanging capacity of the layered silicic acid salt to contain the organic ammonium ion between the layers of the layered silicic acid salt.

PURPOSE: To obtain a highly water-absorbing polymer which can be produced by a stable polymn. without causing flocculation and is very resistant to degradation in properties. CONSTITUTION: In a process for producing a highly water-absorbing polymer by polymerizing a water-sol. vinyl monomer, the polymn. is conducted in the presence of at least one chelate compd. of which the solubility of a Cu salt in a physiological salt soln. at 2 deg.C is 0.01wt.% or lower.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new diallylamine-based copolymer, and a method for producing the copolymer. SOLUTION: The diallylamine-based copolymer has a constituent unit derived from diallylamines, a constituent group derived from an allyl compound, and a constituent unit derived from sulfur dioxide. The method for producing the diallylamine-based copolymer involves copolymerizing monomers forming each constituent unit in a polar solvent in the presence of a radical initiator.
