    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an aromatic diamine having high quality and free from discoloration, etc., in high yield by converting 2-(aminophenyl)-2-(hydroxyphenyl) propanes into an alkali salt, dehydrating by azeotropic distillation and reacting with a dihalogen compound. CONSTITUTION:A compound of formula I (R is H, halogen or lower alkyl; n is 1-4) is made to react with an alkali metal hydroxide in a polar organic solvent. The reaction system is added with a solvent for azeotropic distillation, e.g. methyl acetate, 1,2-dichloroethane or toluene, dehydrated by azeotropic distillation and made to react with a compound of formula II (A is SO2 or CO; X is halogen) at 100-200 deg.C (preferably 120-180 deg.C) to obtain the objective aromatic diamine of formula III (R' and R'' are H or >=1C lower alkyl). The aromatic diamine is extremely useful as an epoxy resin hardener and an intermediate raw material for agricultural chemicals, rubber chemicals, paint, adhesive, etc., as well as a raw material for heat-resistant polymer.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the tittle resin composition useful as varnish, etc., having excellent compatibility, workability and stability, capable of forming cured material of high heat resistance and impact resistance, containing components of a specific maleimide derivative, allyl compound, amine compound, etc., in an arbitrary form. CONSTITUTION:Three components of (A) a maleimide derivative shown by formula I (D is 2-200C n-functional organic group containing one or more carbon- carbon double bonds; R -R are H, 1-20C hydrocarbon or halogen; m and m are positive integer and m +m =5; n is positive integer) or maleimide compound [e.g., N-(p-isopropenylphenyl)maleimide] such as dimer or polymer of the derivative, (B) an allyl compound (e.g., diallyl phthalate) containing at least one allyl group in the molecule and (C) an amine compound (e.g., 4,4'- diaminodiphenylmethane) shown by formula II (Q is 1-150C m-functional organic group; m is positive integer) are blended or a reaction product of any two of the components is blended with the rest of one component to give the aimed resin composition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyimide, having specific repeating units, excellent heat resistance, processability and heat-resistant adhesive properties and suitable as base materials for space, aircraft, etc., by dehydrating a specific polyamic acid while heating, etc. CONSTITUTION:A polyimide, obtained by dehydrating a polyamic acid having repeating units expressed by formula I (R is tetrafunctional noncondensed polycyclic aromatic group having linked >=2C aliphatic, cycloaliphatic groups, etc.) and 0.1-3.0dl/g inherent viscosity (measured in N,N-dimethylacetamide solvent in 0.5g/100ml concentration at 35 deg.C), e.g. at 100-400 deg.C, or chemically imidating the polyamic acid with an imidating agent, having repeating units expressed by formula II and utilizable for multipurpose uses. Furthermore, the above-mentioned polyamic acid is prepared by polymerizing bis{4-[3-(4- aminophenoxy)benzoyl]phenyl}ether with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride in an organic solvent.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A resin composition, consisting of a novel polyimide and a specific amount of carbon fibers, having an extremely high heat distortion temperature, high heat resistance, dimensional stability as well as mechanical strength and useful for electrical and electronic parts, etc. CONSTITUTION:A composition obtained by preblending (A) 100pts.wt. polyimide resin, prepared by reacting an ether diamine expressed by formula I (Y is direct bond, 1-10C bifunctional hydrocarbon group, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, etc.) with one or more tetracarboxylic acid dianhydrides and dehydrocyclizing the resultant polyamic acid and having repeating units expressed by formula III (R is tetrafunctional group selected from >=2C aliphatic, alicyclic, monocyclic aromatic groups, etc.) with (B) 5-100pts.wt., preferably 10-50pts.wt. polyacrylonitrile based or petroleum based carbon fibers having 5-20mu, preferably 8-15mu diameter and 1-600, particularly 100-350 aspect ratio, e.g. in a drum blender, etc., and kneading the resultant blend in a melt mixer, etc.

CONSTITUTION:A polyimide resin compsn. is obtd. by blending 100pts.wt. polyimide resin composed of a repeating unit of formula I with 5-100pts.wt. glass fiber. In the formula I, Y is a single bond or a group selected from the group consisting of a 1-10 C bivalent hydrocarbon, hexafluorinated isopropylidene, carbonyl, thio, sulfinyl, sulfonyl oxide groups; and R is a tetravalent group selected from the group consisting of a 2 C or higher aliph. group, an alicyclic group, a monocyclic group, a condensed polycyclic arom. group and a non- condensed cyclic arom. group, wherein arom. groups are linked with each other through a crosslinking member.
