    Abstract: PURPOSE:To trap fine particles contained in air, general harmful gas and a variant basic substance with high efficiency and to obtain clean air free from a component harmful to a human being by using both a cation exchanger and activated carbon in combination to constitute a filter. CONSTITUTION:As a cation exchanger and activated carbon used for a filter material, every granular materials and fibrous materials are used but the fibrous material having 0.2-15mm length and and 1-3mm thickness, it is preferable in handling. As cation exchange fiber, polystyrene-base polymer is preferable in the aspect of stability and >=0.1meg/g exchange capacity is necessary.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To effectively remove all of organocarbons in ultrapure water, by treating raw water with a macro-reticulated ion exchange resin and an ion exchange fiber. CONSTITUTION:Raw water is pretreated using ultrafiltration membrane composed of a cellulosic, polypropylene or polymethacrylate org. membrane and subsequently treated with a macro-reticulated ion exchange resin (having both macro-porosity and micro-porosity by changing a polymerization method of styrene and benzen at the time of the introduction of an ion exchange group). Next, the raw water is treated with a water-insoluble org. ion exchange fiber (composed of an ion exchange polymer obtained by introducing an ion exchange group into an ion exchange polymer such as a polystyrenic or polyphenolic resin). By this method, ultrapure water having extremely high water quality is obtained.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a sheet-like material which has excellent performance for removing fine particles and a long removing life and can refine chemical products, water, etc. by mixing and dispersing ion exchange fiber floc bodies and glass fibers and forming the sheet-like material. CONSTITUTION:This sheet-like material made of the ion exchange fibers for highly refining liquid and gases of chemical products, water, air, etc., consists of the mixed dispersion composed of the ion exchange fibers and glass fibers. The ion exchange fibers are formed by reinforcing the sea components consisting of polystyrene fibers contg. the exchange group having ion exchangeability, etc., with the island component such as polyalpha-olefin. Such ion exchange fibers are partially branched or divided to the floc bodies and thereafter the fibers are mixed with the glass fibers and the sheet is formed of such mixture. The resulted sheet-like material has small filtration resistance and the long filter life and is also effective for removing ultrafine particles.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To regenerate ion exchange body which has been used for the purification of condensate of an atomic power plant with high efficiency by treating an ion exchange body having colloidal substances adsorbed thereto with an acidic soln. to eliminate the colloidal substances. CONSTITUTION:Colloidal substances are eliminated by treating an ion exchange body having colloidal substances adsorbed thereto with acidic soln. Similar elimination effect may be obtd. also by the irradiation with supersonic wave, or supersonic wave irradiation in acidic soln. The ion exchange body may include powdery, particulate, or fibrous ion exchange resin, among which ion exchange fiber is most preferred. Useful acidic soln. is mineral acid such as HCl, H2SO4, or org. acid such as formic acid, etc. Preferred frequency, irradiation time of the supersonic wave, and the temp. of water bath during irradiation, is 28kHz, 1-60min, and ca. room temp. to 50 deg.C, respectively.
