    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled melt-moldable polyester having excellent fluidity, heat-resistance and mechanical properties and suitable as engineering plastics, etc., by copolymerizing a monosubstituted hydroquinone to an aromatic polyester at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:The objective polyester having a logarithmic viscosity of 1.0-20.0dl/g can be produced by (1) mixing (A) p-hydroxybenzoic acid forming the constituent unit of formula I, (B) (i) terephthalic acid and/or isophthalic acid and (ii) an aromatic dihydroxy compound such as 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl forming the constituent unit of formula II (X is group of formula III, etc.) and (C) a monosubstituted hydroquinone (e.g. isopropylhydroquinone) forming the constituent unit of formula IV (Y is group of formula V, etc.) and (2) subjecting the mixture e.g. to deacetylation polycondensation reaction. The ratios of the units of formula I, formula III and formula II+III in the mixture are 40-90mol.%,

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form an aromatic polyester excellent in flow, heat resistance and impact resistance, by combining three specified kinds of structural units. CONSTITUTION:This aromatic polymer consists of structural units I-III represented by formulas I-III, wherein structural units (I+II) amount to 40-90mol% based on the total, structural units III amount to 60-10mol% based on the total, and the ratio of structural units (II) to structural units (I+II) is 1-40mol%. In the formulas I-III, X is at least one group selected from among the groups of formulas IV, V and VI, and Y is at least two groups selected from among the groups of the formulas VII, VIII and IX.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester resin composition which can give a product improved in mold release without detriment to transparency by mixing a copolymer polyester resin in which at least either of the diol component and the dicarboxylic acid component comprises at least two compounds with a polycarbonate resin and a fatty acid. SOLUTION: The diol component which constitutes the copolymer polyester resin is desirably ethylene glycol or cyclohexane dimethanol. The dicarboxylic acid component is desirably terephthalic acid or isophthalic acid. When the diol component comprises ethylene glycol and cyclohexane dimethanol, the molar ratio is desirably (199)/(99-1). Its relative viscosity being an index of a degree of polymerization is 0.5-1.2. The polycarbonate mixed has a molecular weight of 15,000-30,000. 100 pts.wt. resin composition comprising 10-900 pts.wt. polycarbonate resin and 100 pts.wt. copolymer polyester resin is mixed with 0.01-1 pt.wt. 10-30C fatty acid such as stearic acid.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain the subject composition melt moldable at 400 deg.C or lower and capable of giving molded products excellent in fluidity, heat resistance, and mechanical properties, by blending a specific copolymer with a specific aromatic polyester capable of forming anisotropic molten phase. CONSTITUTION: This composition is obtained by blending (B) 0.1 to 60 pts.wt. of a copolymer from an α-olefin (preferably, ethylene) and glycidyl ester of an α,β-unsaturated acid (preferably, glycidyl methacrylate) with (A) 100 pts.wt. of an aromatic polyester capable of forming anisotropic molten phase, selected from (i) polyesters consisting of units of formula I (X is expressed by formula V, etc.), (ii) polyesters consisting of units of formula I to III (Y is expressed by formula VI, etc.) and polyesters consisting of units of formula I to IV (Z is expressed by formula VII, etc.), having a melt viscosity of 10 to 15000 poises measured under the condition that with a shear rate of 1000 (1/sec) at a temperature higher by 40 deg.C than the temperature at which the polyester begins to exhibit its anisotropy (crystal liquid formation-initiating temperature).
