    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester resin composition capable of providing a molding product having a massive feeling, touch of quality and luster of pottery, chemical resistance and impact resistance. SOLUTION: This polyester resin composition is obtained by blending 10-50 wt.% of a PBT resin with 10-50 wt.% of a PCT/PET copolymer composed of a cyclohexyl terephthalate unit and an ethylene terephthalate unit and 10-80 wt.% of at least one kind of a filler selected from barium sulfate, zinc oxide, strontium sulfate and zirconium oxide.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A thermoplastic resin composition having equally improved rigidity, heat resistance, molding and processing characteristics and water resistance, obtained by blending a polyphenylene ether which is premodified with a compound having a specific structure with a polyester in a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION:(A) 5-95wt% modified polyphenylene ether obtained by reacting (i) 100pts.wt. polyphenylene ether shown by the formula (Q1-Q4 are H, halogen, hydrocarbon, halohydrocarbon, etc.; n is >=20) with (ii) 0.1-20pts.wt. compound simultaneously containing carbon-carbon double bond or carbon-carbon triple bond and one or more selected from carboxylic acid group, acid anhydride group, acid amide group, imide group, carboxylic acid ester group, epoxy group, amino group and hydroxyl group in the molecule, preferably maleic anhydride, etc., is blended wit (B) 95-5wt% thermoplastic polyester, especially poly(1,4- butylene terephthalate) to give a composition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the title compsn. having excellent moldability and resistance to impact and chemicals, by blending a specified graft copolymer compsn. with a polyamide resin. CONSTITUTION:The whole of 15-90pts.wt. (by weight; the same applies here inbelow) monomer mixture (a) of 50-90wt.% arom. vinyl (i) (e.g., styrene), 9.9-49.9wt.% vinyl cyanide (ii) (e.g., acrylonitrile) and 0.1-20wt.% alpha,beta-unsaturat ed carboxylic acid (iii) (e.g., methacrylic acid) is grafted onto 10-85pts.wt. diene rubber (b) (e.g., polybutadiene rubber) [the total amount of the components (a) and (b) being 100pts.] to obtain a graft copolymer. 21-85pts.wt. graft copoly mer compsn. (A) which is a blend of said copolymer a graft copolymer obtd. by grafting part of the component (a) onto the component (b) and a copolymer obtd. by copolymerizing the remainder of the component (a) is blended with 15-79pts.wt. polyamide (B) to obtain 100pts.wt. title compsn.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an optical disc base having excellent heat resistance and transparency and small double refractive index, by forming an optical disc base from a copolymer of an aromatic vinyl monomer with a specified maleimide monomer. CONSTITUTION:An optical disc base formed from a copolymer obtained by polymerizing a monomer mixture comprising 40-95wt% aromatic vinyl monomer, 5-60wt% maleimide monomer of the formula and 0-50wt% other vinyl monomers copolymerizable therewith. In the formula, R is H or a 1-20C substituted or unsubstituted alkyl or aryl. As the aromatic vinyl monomers, styrene, alpha-methylstyrene and p-methylstyrene are used because of performances and industrial availability. Examples of the maleimide monomers which can be preferably used include maleimide, N-methylmaleimide and N- cyclohexylmaleimide.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain an optical disk base improved in transparency and markedly decreased in double refraction and hygroscopicity, by casting an aromatic vinyl monomer or a monomer mixture based thereon. CONSTITUTION:A monomer or monomer mixture comprising 50-100wt.% aromatic vinyl monomer and 50-0wt.% othe monomers copolymrizable therewith is cast. As said aromatic vinyl monomers, styrene alpha-methylstyrene, p- methylstyrene and divinylbenzene are desirable. These monomers may be used alone or in the form of a mixture of at least two of them. Examples of said other vinyl monomers copolymerizable with said aromatic vinyl monomer include vinyl cyanide monomers, (meth) acrylate ester monomers, maleimide monomers and alpha,beta-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydrides. These monomers are used alone or in the form of a mixture of at least two of them.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyamide resin compsn. which is excellent in mold release characteristics and generates a gas little by compounding a polyamide resin with an fatty acid amide and an aliph. carboxylic acid or its ester. SOLUTION: A hundred (100) pts. polyamide resin, which may be one of various nylons or multicomponent copolymer nylons, is mixed and kneaded with 0.05-1 pt. unsatd. fatty acid amide derived from a 6-22C unsatd. fatty acid [e.g. an ethylenebis-(unsatd. fatty acid) amide or a methylenebis-(unsatd. fatty acid) amide], 0.005-0.5 pt. component selected from among a 22C or higher aliph. carboxylic acid (e. g. behenic or lignoceric acid) or its metal salt, an ester of a carboxylic acid with a dihydric aliph. alcohol, and a partially saponified ester compd., and if necessary further with a colorant, an antioxidant, a flame retardant, a reinforcement, etc., and extruded to give a polyamide resin compsn., which is injection molded to give a molded article.

CONSTITUTION:The composition comprises 45-90wt.% polyphenylene ether (I) having carboxyl and/or carboxylic anhydride groups as part of the substituents, obtained by reacting 100 pts.wt. polyphenylene ether of the formula (wherein Q1 to Q4 are each H, halogen, a hydrocarbon group or the like; n >=20) with 0.1-20 pts.wt. 1, 2-disubstituted olefin compound having a carboxylic or carboxylic anhydride structure in the presence of 0.1-30 pts.wt., per 100 pts.wt. this compound, free-radical generator, 5-90wt.%. polyamide (II), and 5-60wt.% A-B-A'-type block copolymer elastomer and/or hydrogenated A-B-A'- type block copolymer (III) derived by hydrogenating the intermediate polymer block B.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a maleimide copolymer which is lowly birefringent and is improved in heat resistance and transparency by copolymerizing an aromatic vinyl monomer with a specified maleimide monomer and another vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith. CONSTITUTION:40-95wt.% aromatic vinyl monomer (e.g. styrene) is copolymerized with 5-60wt.% maleimide monomer of the formula [wherein R is H or a 1-20C (un)substituted alkyl] and 0-50wt.% another vinyl monomer copolymerizable therewith (e.g. acrylonitrile) in the presence or absence of a radical polymerization initiator to obtain a maleimide copolymer of an intrinsic viscosity (at 30 deg.C) of 0.10-1.50. This copolymer can be molded under the conditions of a cylinder temperature of 200-360 deg.C and a mold temperature of 30-120 deg.C.

CONSTITUTION:(A) 5-90wt% modified polyphenylene ether obtained by reacting (i) 100pts.wt. polyphenylene ether shown by formula (Q1-Q4 are H, halogen, hydrocarbon, etc.,; n is >=20) with (ii) 0.1-20pts.wt. compound simultaneously containing carbon-carbon double bond or carbon-carbon triple bond and acid amide group, imide group, carboxylic acid ester group, epoxy group, amino group or OH in the molecule, such as N-phenylmaleimide, etc., is blended with (B) 5-90wt% polyamide and (C) 5-60wt% block copolymer of A-B-A' type (A and A' are vinyl aromatic hydrocarbon block; B is conjugated diene block) or a copolymer obtained by hydrogenating B of the block copolymer to give a thermoplastic resin composition.
