    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polymer having a uniform degree of crosslinking and contrive improvements in workability and working environmental properties, by a method wherein uncrosslinked polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) is melted, kneaded and extruded solely or along with an additive agent and after the same is made into a pellet, the same is heat-treated at a temperature of the melting point or lower. CONSTITUTION:Uncrosslinked PPS is melted, kneaded and extruded solely or along with an additive agent and after the same is made into a pellet, a PPS injection molding material is obtained by heat-treating the same at a temperature of the melting point or lower. It is preferable that melting, kneading and extruding temperatures are normally at least the melting point of uncrosslinked PPS and 290-500 deg.C. Then it is preferable that a heat-treatment temperature is normally 170-280 deg.C. A fiber- reinforced filling agent or a powdery inorganic filling agent can be used preferably as the additive agent. It is preferable that those additive agents are added to the total quantity of the 100pts.wt. uncrosslinked PPS and additive agent within a range of 0-80pts.wt. With this construction, a matter possessing a uniform degree of crosslinking and low heating loss is obtained in high yield and its workability and working environmental properties are also favorable.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a copolymerized polyester containing specific copolymer components, having extremely stable crystallinity and melting point, and capable of forming fibers and films, etc. having excellent heat resistance and flame retardance by melt spinning or melt film-forming. CONSTITUTION:A melt-moldable polyester having an intrinsic viscosity of 0.3- 1.4 and composed mainly of the structural units of formula I and formula II (n is 2, 4 or 6). The unit of formula I can be produced by the polycondensation of alpha,beta- bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid and/or its ester-forming derivative with an alkylene glycol, and the unit of formula II can be produced by the polycondensation of alpha,beta-bis(2-bromophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid and/or its ester-forming derivative with an alkylene glycol. The content of the unit of formula II in the copolymer is preferably 1-99mol%, especially 10-90mol%.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form an aromatic polyester excellent in flow, heat resistance and impact resistance, by combining three specified kinds of structural units. CONSTITUTION:This aromatic polymer consists of structural units I-III represented by formulas I-III, wherein structural units (I+II) amount to 40-90mol% based on the total, structural units III amount to 60-10mol% based on the total, and the ratio of structural units (II) to structural units (I+II) is 1-40mol%. In the formulas I-III, X is at least one group selected from among the groups of formulas IV, V and VI, and Y is at least two groups selected from among the groups of the formulas VII, VIII and IX.

CONSTITUTION:A polyester having the formula (n is >=100), 230-350 deg.C melting point and >=100 polymerization degree. The above-mentioned polyester is produced by acetylating, e.g. 4-hydroxy-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorobenzoic acid with acetic anhydride to form 4-acetoxy-2,3,5,6-tetrafluorobenzoic acid or an oligomer thereof, deacetylating and polycondensing the resultant product.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:A copolyester which can be crystallized and is excellent in heat resistance, modulus, flex strength and impact resistance, comprising specified comonomers. CONSTITUTION:1, 2-Bis( 2-chloro (or bromo)-phenoxy )ethane-4, 4'-dicarboxylic acid (esterifiable derivative) obtained by reacting 3-chloro (or bromo)-4- hydroxybenzoic acid (esterifiable derivative) obtained by the nucleus halogena tion of p-hydroxybenzoic acid (esterifiable derivative) with Cl or Br with an ethylene dihalide in the presence of an alkali compound is transesterified with an alkylene glycol, and the product is polycondensed to obtain a copolyester mainly consisting of 0.5-99.5mol% structural units of formula I and 99.5-0.5mol% structural units of formula II (wherein m and n are each 2,4 or 6, X is Cl or Br, Y is methyl or methoxy, X and Y are each Cl or Br, and the methyl and the methoxy are each bonded to the carbon ortho to the adjacent oxygen atom in the benzene ring.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve moldability by specifying a mol.wt. distribution of a polymer layer in a melt-kneaded compsn. contg. polyphenylene sulfide and a filler at a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A compsn. wherein 100 pts.wt. polyphenylene sulfide and 50-250 pts.wt. filler are melt-compounded has a mol.wt. distribution wherein the ratio of the number-average mol.wt. to the weight-average mol.wt. of a polymer layer is more than 200 when measured by gel permeation chromatography using 1-chlorornaphthalene as a solvent. In the melt-kneading extrusion for obtaining said compsn., a single-screw extruder and a twin-screw extruder are pref. used, and it is necessary to use a twin-screw extruder with an L/D of 20 or larger and to conduct melt-kneading under a specified controlled condition.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled high-polymerization degree polyester outstanding in solvent and heat resistances and mechanical properties, by interfacial polycondensation with a dicarboxylic acid dichloride, using each specific bisphenol, catalyst and organic solvent. CONSTITUTION:First, an organic solvent solution is prepared by dissolving in (A) an organic solvent, i.e. a 1-10C halogenated hydrocarbon of a boiling point T >=35 deg.C (e.g. methylene dichloride) (B) pref. 1-40wt% of isophthaloyl dichloride and/or terephthaloyl dichloride. This solution is then incorporated with (C) an aqueous alkali solution of bisphenol >=50mol% of which is bis(4- hydroxyphenyl)sulfone, with a concentration e.g. 1-30wt% and (D) a phosphonium salt of formula (R1-R4 are each 1-16C hydrocarbon; X is chlorine, etc.) followed by polycondensation at (T-15)-(T+15) deg.C, thus obtaining the objective polyester.
