Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject composition, excellent in mechanical characteristics and retention stability by including a specific liquid crystal polyester, a specified polybrominated styrene, a thermoplastic resin such as a polyamide, a filler and an antimony compound in a prescribed proportion. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition is obtained by including (C) 0-200 pts.wt. filler, (D) 0.5-60 pts.wt. compound expressed by formula VII and (E) 0-30 pts.wt. antimony compound in 100 pts.wt. resin composition composed of (A) 1-99wt.% thermotropic liquid crystal polyester, composed of structural units expressed by formulas I, II, III or IV (R1 is formula V, etc.; R2 is formula VI, etc.) and having 150-280 deg.C deflection temperature under load and (B) 99-1wt.% one or more thermoplastic resins of polyamides, polyoxymethylenes, polycarbonates, polyarylene oxides, semi-aromatic polyesters, polyarylene sulfides, polysulfones, polyether sulfones, amorphous polyarylates and polyether ketones.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the balance between mechanical properties and heat resistance, weld strength esp., and mechanical anisotropy of a molded article by reacting five specific materials and acetic anhydride and polymerizing the reaction product under a reduced pressure. CONSTITUTION:An arom. hydroxycarboxylic acid of formula I, 2'-hydroxyethyl 4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)benzoate of formula II, an arom. dihydroxy compd. of formula III (wherein R1 is a group of formula IV, V, or VI), an arom. dicarboxylic acid of formula VII (wherein R2 is a group of formula IV, V, or VIII), a compd. selected from the group consisting of a polyester or oligomer comprising an arom dicarboxylic acid of formula VII with ethylene glycol or with the compd. of formula II and a bis(beta-hydroxyethyl) ester of arom. dicarboxylic acid, and acetic anhydride are reacted, and the reaction product is polymerized under a reduced pressure to give the title polyester having a logarithmic viscosity of 0.5-5.0dl/g and contg. structural units of formulas IX-XIII in such molar ratios that the ratio of X/(IX+X+XI+XII) is 0.1-10mol% and that of IX/(IX+X +XI+XII) is 5-40mol%.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the subject polyester excellent in heat resistance, color tone, stiffness, impact resistance, etc., and having a high polymerization degree by charging a specified ratio of hydroxybenzoic acid and acetoxybenzoic acid, further using other plural components and carrying out copolymerization. CONSTITUTION:(A) p-Hydroxybenzoic acid and (B) p-acetoxybenzoic acid are charged so that the molar ratio of the component (A) to the component (B) may be (9/1) (0/10) and (C) acetic anhydride is added thereto. Respective compounds for building blocks of (D) formula I (R1 is aromatic), (E) formula II and (F) formula III (R2 is aromatic) are further admixed therewith and the resultant mixture is copolymerized, thus obtaining the objective polyester containing (G) a building block of formula IV, containing the components [(G)+(D)] and (E) in an amount of (77-95) mol% and (23-5) mol% respectively based on the components [(G)+(D)+(E)] and having (75/25)-95/5) molar ratio of [component (G)/component (D)].

Abstract: PURPOSE:To improve the heat resistance, the toughness of the knife edge, and the adhesive strength to fluororesin paint by using fusion-moldable liquid crystal polyester which consists of four specific structure units so that the ratio of the 1st structure unit to the sum of the 1st - 3rd structure units and the mole ratio of the 2nd and 3rd structure units are specified. CONSTITUTION:The fusion-moldable liquid crystal polyester which consists of the structure units shown by formulas I - IV so that the structure unit shown by the formula I has a 40 - 90% mole ratio to the sum of the structure units shown by the formulas I - III and the mole ratio of the structure units shown by the formulas II and III is 9/1 - 1/9. In the formula III, R1 is the group of the formula V and in the formula IV, R2 is >=2 kinds selected from the formulas VI and VII. In the formula VI, X is a hydrogen atom or chlorine atom. Consequently, the separating claw is obtained which has the superior heat resistance, low water absorptivity, superior paper discharging ability, and adhesive strength of fluororesin paint while its knife edge is hard to deform even at high temperature and high humidity.

CONSTITUTION:A printed substrate consists of a structure unit shown by expressions I to IV and consists of liquid crystal polyester which enables dissolving formation whose structure unit I+II is 75 to 95 mole % of I+II+III, structure unit III is 25 to 5 mole % of I+II+III, and mole ratio of structure unit I/II is 75/25 to 95/5. In the expressions I to IV, R1 expresses one or more kinds of group selected from an expression V, etc., and R2 expresses one or more kinds of group selected from an expression VI, etc. Thereby, solder heat resistance and formation properties are improved.

In formulae I-IV, X is one or more groups selected from the group consisting of formulae V, VI, etc.; the carbonyl groups in the structural units of formulae II and III are in the para- and meta-positions relative to each other, 65mol% or more of which is in the para-position; and the amount of the structural unit of formula IV is substantially equivalent to the total amount of the structural units of formulae II and III by mole.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To develop the surface metallized liquid crystal polyester molding having the excellent adhesive strength of plating films and appearance by roughening the surface of the molding of the specific thermotropic liquid crystal polyester with an aq. alkaline soln., then subjecting the surface to electroless plating and further electroplating. CONSTITUTION:The molding of the thermotropic liquid crystal polyester consisting of the thermotropic liquid crystal polyester consisting of 20 to 90mol% polyester structural body A which is formed of p-hydroxybenzoic acid and is expressed by formula I and 80 to 10mol% polyester structural unit which is formed of arom. diol B and arom. dicarboxylic acid C and is expressed by formula II or the thermotropic liquid crystal polyester which is formed of C and ethylene glycol in addition to the above-mentioned A, B, C and is expressed by formula III is treated with the aq. soln. of an alkali, such as KOH and the surface thereof is thereby roughened. The surface is electroplated with a metal after rinsing and is further electroplated. The surface metallized liquid crystal polyester molding having the excellent surface appearance and the adhesive strength of the plating film is thus produced.
