    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a composition which can give a film or a fiber excellent in lubricity and abrasion resistance, by dispersing cerium oxide particles in a thermoplastic polyester. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic polyester composition is formed by homogeneously and finely dispersing cerium oxide particles in a thermoplastic polyester. Although the cerium oxide particles used may be particles of cerium (III) oxide (Ce2O3) or cerium (IV) oxide (CeO2), CeO2 particles are more desirable. The mean particle diameter of the cerium oxide particles used is desirably 0.1-3.0Xm when it is used in a film or a fiber. When this diameter is below 0.01mum, the lubricity of a molding is not sufficient, while a diameter above 5mum is undesirable because large protrusions are formed on the molding. The content of the cerium oxide is desirably 0.01-5wt.% based on the polyester.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition capable of giving formed products of excellent slipperiness and wear resistance including biaxially oriented films suitable for e.g., magnetic tapes, by incorporating a polyester with each specified amount of each specific silicone resin particles and inert inorganic particles. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating a polyester with an intrinsic viscosity of 0.4-1.0 with (A) 0.005-10wt.% (pref. 0.01-5wt.%) of silicone resin particles with a mean size of 0.01-5mum (pref. 0.1-2mum) of which a structural unit of the formula [R1 is CnH2n-1 (n is 1-10) or phenyl] accounts for >=10mol.% (pref. >=50mol.%) and (B) 0.005-10wt.% (pref. 0.01-5wt.%) of an inert inorganic particles (e.g., talc, caolin, calcium carbonate) with a mean size of 0.01-5mum (pref. 0.1-2mum).

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enable ester interchange reaction of a dicarboxylic acid dialkyl ester with an alkylene glycol in short time and high stability, by performing he reaction in a reaction system under a pressure higher than atmospheric pressure and discharging the alkylene glycol out of the system. CONSTITUTION:Dialkyl ester of 1,2-bis(chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid is subjected to ester interchange reaction with an alkylene glycol under a pressure higher than atmospheric pressure, preferably under 0.1-3kg/cm G pressure. After the completion of the reaction, the pressure of the reaction system is lowered preferably to G and remaining alkylene glycol is discharged from the system to obtain bis(beta-hydroxyalkyl)-1,2-bis (chlorophenoxy)ethane-4,4'-dica-rboxyl ate or its oligomer.
