Centrifugal-action l u b r i c a t o r s.-A lubricator for loose pulleys, shafts &c. comprises a casing 1 secured to the revolving part, and containing bent tubes 2, 3. Under centrifugal action the lubricant in the casing passes through the tube 2 to an outlet 4, and, at the same time, air enters by an inlet 5 and the tube 3. The inlet and outlet are regulated by a screw 6 formed with reduced portions 7, 8, which are so placed that the air inlet 5 is restricted before the outlet 4 for the lubricant.

When the outer shell has been driven the required depth, the inner tube is withdrawn and the shell is filled with concrete. A modification is described in which the driving-tube 4 is short, and is driven by a plate covering the upper end.

In one portion of the structure A, Fig. 6, a groove G is formed, and a metal plate S is screwed on the edge so as partly to overlap. A narrow groove is formed in the adjoining portion B, which is simply slid along the groove G, the narrow groove engaging with the plate S. Each side of the wide groove G may carry a plate engaging with two slots in the fitted piece. In another form, Fig. 9, an L-shaped plate S is attached, with a turned edge fitting in a groove in the adjoining piece. Fig. 2 shows one of several slight modifications which are adopted. Fig. 13 shows a drawer constructed by this method.

Relates to improvements on the means described in Specification No. 16,667, A.D. 1900. The plunger B is carried, so that it can pass round curves, by the arms or frames A pivoted on brackets D, D on the axle-box, and a ribbed wheel G may be mounted in the frame A to run on the rail. The plunger is depressed by a weight B , or spring such as H, when it comes to the deepened part of the rail groove, but normally it is held up by a bolt J' connected to the short arm of a weighted bell crank I, which can be lifted by a cord connection K from the driver's platform. Ratchet or other holding-gear may, however, be used. The end B of the plunger may be renewable with packing-strips B to allow for wear, or it may be hinged and also provided with yielding pieces B , B' so as to give in case of obstruction. The point tongue may be held open, until the last wheel has passed, by lengthening the operating- lever and by a flange N on the tongue for the plunger to bear against during its passage. A recess o in the rail accommodates this flange.

Abstract: 16,146. Stewart, W. W. Aug. 8. Pens, reservoir. Relates to a reservoir pen which can be filled without removing any portion of the pen. Fig. 1 shows a side view, partly in section, of one form of pen. Fig. 2 shows a transverse section on the line 2 of Fig. 1. The nozzle B is made with a semicircular channel c at the bottom of the central passage. The nib D rests immediately over the channel c, and is surmounted by the movable feeder bar E, which terminates in a spiral extension e. The plug F is angular in cross-section; it has a central passage for the extension e, and is provided with slots h. It is stated that, on inverting an ink filler over the mouth of the pen, the ink will flow along the feeder bar E, while air bubbles escape through the circular opening contained between the nib D and the channel c. Fig. 6 shows a sectional side view of a modification. The nib E is seated above the open-ended feeder bar D', which has a central bore of circular section and external grooves preferably non-circular in section. The feeder bar D' and nib E are enclosed by the collar d', which terminates in the extension e'.
