PURPOSE: An encoding and decoding device during conversion between a coder based on an MDCT and a heterogeneous coder are provided to integrate an audio coder based on an MDCT with another audio coder to minimize MDCT information when encoding or decoding an audio signal, thereby offsetting generated signal distortion. CONSTITUTION: When conversion between a coder based on an MDCT and a heterogeneous coder occurs, an encoding device(101) codes additional information to restore an input signal encoded according to a coding method based on an MDCT. The encoding device prevents production of an unnecessary bit stream. The encoding device encodes minimum additional information.
Abstract:
PURPOSE: An apparatus for encoding and decoding integrated voice and audio signals is provided to combine a voice codec module with an audio codec module and selectively apply a codec module depending on a characteristic of an input signal, thereby showing excellent performance. CONSTITUTION: A module selecting unit(110) analyzes a characteristic of an input signal to select the first encoding module for encoding the first frame of an input signal. A voice encoding unit(130) encodes the input signal by selection of the module selecting unit to generate a voice bit string. An audio encoder(140) encodes the input signal by selection of the module selecting unit to generate an audio bit string. A bit stream generator(150) generates an output bit string from the audio encoder by selection of the module selecting unit.

Abstract:
Provided is a method for controlling synchronizing downmix signals and MPEG surround side information signals by controlling a delay according to the kind of downmix audio signals in an MPEG surround decoder. When multi-channel audio signals are restored using an HE-AAC decoder and a low-power MPEG surround decoder and complex QMF signals outputted from the HE-AAC decoder are used as downmix signals, a delay unit compensates for a delay caused in a real-to-complex converter. Anther delay unit delays spatial parameters to compensate for a delay caused in QMF and Nyquist banks when time-domain downmix signals are used. Also, when multi-channel audio signals are restored using an HE-AAC decoder and a high-quality MPEG surround decoder and complex QMF signals outputted from the HE-AAC decoder are used as downmix signals, a delay unit compensates for a delay caused in a real-to-complex converter.

Provided is an apparatus and method for encoding and decoding using alternative transform units according to the correlation of residual signals. The video encoding apparatus includes a first transforming unit for performing discrete cosine transform (DCT), first quantization, first inverse quantization, and inverse DCT on a block basis onto residual coefficients generated after intra frame prediction or inter frame prediction; a second transforming unit for performing discrete sine transform (DST), second quantization, second inverse quantization, and inverse DST on a block basis onto the residual coefficients; a selecting unit for selecting one having a high compression rate between the first and second transforming units for each block through performing rate-distortion optimization; and a flag marking unit for recording information about the selected transforming unit at a flag bit provided on a macroblock basis.

The first down-mix generating unit(102) down-mixes a background object(BGO) and the first foreground object(FGO1) to generate the first down-mix signal and the first residual signal. The second down-mix generating unit(103) down-mixes the first down-mix signal and the second foreground object(FGO2) to generate the second down-mix signal and the second residual signal. A bit stream generating unit produces a bit stream including the down-mix signal and residual signal.

The present invention discloses an encoding apparatus using a Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) scanning, which includes a mode selection means for selecting an optimal mode for intra prediction; an intra prediction means for performing intra prediction onto video inputted based on the mode selected in the mode selection means; a DCT and quantization means for performing DCT and quantization onto residual coefficients of a block outputted from the intra prediction means; and an entropy encoding means for performing entropy encoding onto DCT coefficients acquired from the DCT and quantization by using a scanning mode decided based on pixel similarity of the residual coefficients.

A lossless coding/decoding apparatus and method of audio signal are provided to improve the performance of an audio encoder by compressing audio signal into a bit string having a less bit number at the same coding distortion. A lossless encoding apparatus comprises a second encoder module(210) including a first encoder(230) directly encoding a first symbol and a plurality of second encoders(220) converting the first symbol into a second symbol and encoding the second symbol; a first selector(250) comparing the performance of the second encoders and the first encoder and outputting an encoding mode according to the comparison result; and a second selector(260) encoding the first symbol corresponding to the encoding mode and outputting the final bit string.

An apparatus and a method for encoding and decoding multi-object audio signal including multiple channels are provided to actively consume audio contents according to the need of a user. An SAOC(Spatial Audio Object Coding) encoder(101) downmixes an audio object outputted from an SAC encoder(103) to output a representative downmix signal, and outputs an SAOC bit stream including space queue information and supplementary information about the inputted audio object. The SAC encoder downmixes a multi-channel audio signal into a mono channel or a stereo channel to generate a single audio object. The SAC encoder outputs an SAC bit stream including space queue information and supplementary information about the inputted multi-channel audio signal. A preset-ASI(Audio Scene Information) unit(113) forms a control signal inputted from the exterior, namely, object control information, into preset-ASI and generates a preset-ASI bit stream including the preset-ASI information. A bit stream formatter(105) generates a representative bit stream by combining the SAOC bit stream outputted from the SAOC encoder, the SAC bit stream outputted from the SAC encoder, and a preset-ASI bit stream outputted from the preset-ASI unit.
