Abstract: The invention comprises the copper or iron complexes of disazo dyes of formula wherein one X is H and the other OH, one A is a NO2 and the other a sulphonic acid group and one B is a NO2 and the other a sulphonic acid group. The dyes are prepared by succesive coupling of two appropriate diazo components with resorcinol, followed by metallization with a copper- or iron-yielding agent. The dyes are used to dye leather in brown shades.

Abstract: Disazo dyes with an indole coupling component useful for dyeing polyamide and polyurethane articles have the general formula in which R1 is a methyl or phenyl group, R2 is H or a methyl group and m is 1 or 2 and in which the rings A and B may contain other non-water-solubilizing groups, e.g. alkyl, alkoxy or acetylamino groups or halogen atoms. The dyes may be prepared conventionally by diazotization and coupling. A number of suitable diazo and coupling components are listed.ALSO:Textile materials of synthetic polyamides or polyurethanes are dyed or printed using the dyestuff in which R1 is a methyl or phenyl group, R2 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, m is 1 or 2 and the rings A and B may be further substituted with non-water-solubilising groups, e.g. halogen atoms or alkyl, alkoxy or acetylamino groups. The dyes have poor solubility in water and may be applied as a dispersion in a weakly alkaline to strongly acid bath at temperatures of 90-100 DEG C. or higher under super atmospheric pressure in the presence of usual auxiliaries, e.g. sulphonated sperm oil alcohol or a castor oil/ethylene oxide adduct (1 : 40). Printing is carried out conventionally; the print paste may contain auxiliaries, e.g. resorcinol or b -naphthol. The dyeings are dischargeable with usual reducing agents. Examples are given.

Abstract: The invention comprises basic monoazo dyes of formula wherein R is an alkyl radical which may be substituted, X is a divalent atom or group which makes up a 5- or 6-membered aromatic ring, the heterocyclic system, which may have fused rings containing, if desired, substituents, A is a phenylene or naphthylene radical, Y is a D 2-pyrazolinyl-(1) radical which may be substituted, n is 0 or 1 and E is the equivalent of an anion. The dyes are prepared by (a) reacting a heterocyclic hydrazone or benzenesulphonylhydrazone of formula wherein B is a hydrogen atom or a benzenesulphonyl radical in the presence of an oxidizing agent with an arylpyrazoline of formula H-A-Y or (b) by alkylating a dye of formula The dyes may be used to colour silk, leather, furs, hair, mordanted cotton, synthetic polyamides and cellulose esters but are preferably used to dye and print textile materials of polyacrylonitrile or polydicyanoethylene in blue shades. Dyes having as heterocyclic ring systems benzthiazole, thiadiazole, thiazole, quinoline, triazole and indazole are specified in examples. Specifications 782,310 and 871,426 are referred to.

Abstract: The invention comprises dyes of the general formula in which R1 and R2 denote alkyl radicals with 1 to 4 carbon and/or aralkyl radicals, A denotes a p-phenylene or 1:4-naphthylene radical which may contain further radicals but is free from sulphonic acid groups, X denotes one of the divalent radicals: Y denotes the equivalent of an anion, B denotes the radical of an amine or an aliphatic or heterocyclic enamine or enol capable of coupling and free from sulphonic acid groups, R4 denotes a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an aryl group and R6 denotes a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an aryl group which may be substituted and in which R5 and R6 together may form a carbocyclic ring and wherein B denotes the radical of an aliphatic or heterocyclic enamine or enol when X denotes the divalent radical and a process for the production of tetrazapolymethine dyes wherein a salt of an amino azo compound of the general formula in which R11 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an aralkyl radical, R21 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl radical with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an aralkyl radical, A is a p-phenylene or 1,4-naphthylene radical which is free from sulphonic acid groups but may contain other radicals, X is one of the divalent radicals or Z is the equivalent of an anion, R4 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl radical with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, an aryl or carboxyl group, R5 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an aryl radical and R6 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms or an aryl radical which may be substituted and in which R5 and R6 together may form a carbocyclic ring is diazotized and the diazonium compound is coupled with an amine or an aliphatic or heterocyclic enamine or enol free from sulphonic acid groups and capable of coupling and, when R21 stands for a hydrogen atom, the coupling product is converted into the corresponding quaternary salt by treatment with an alkylating agent. Starting materials of the triazole series may be obtained by coupling diazotized 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole or its alkyl, aryl or carboxyl derivatives substituted in the 5-position with amino benzenes or aminonaphthalenes which couple in p-position to the amino group and which may be substituted with e.g. alkyl, alkoxy, or acylamino groups or halogen. Starting materials of the imidazole series may be obtained by coupling p-nitro- or p-acetylaminobenzenes or-amino-naphthalenes with imidazole or its derivatives substituted in the 4- and/or 5-positions by alkyl and/or aryl radicals, treating the coupling product with alkylating agents and converting the nitro or acetylamino group into an amino group by reduction or hydrolysis.
