Abstract: An industrial process for the heterogeneously catalytic gas-phase oxidation of propane with molecular oxygen to form acroleine in which, starting with a molar reactant ratio of the propane to the O2 in the undiluted state in the gas mixture fed in of 7:3, said gas mixture is diluted with the reactant propane and possibly inert gases so that the gas mixture fed in has more than 70 vol % propane and at least 5 vol % O2.

Abstract: Prodn. of acrolein (I) and/or acrylic acid (II) from C3H8 involves (A) gas phase partial dehydrogenation of C3H8 to C3H6, using heterogeneous catalyst; (B) using the prod. gas mixt. of C3H6 and unreacted C3H8 for charging an oxidn. reactor, in which C3H6 is converted to (I) and/or (II) by gas phase selective partial oxidn. with pure O2 using heterogeneous catalyst; and (C) separating the prod. from the prod. gas stream and recycling at least the unreacted C3H8 from stage (B) to stage (A). The novelty is that, before entering stage (B), constituents other than C3H8 and C3H6, at least H2 and steam, are removed from the prod. gas mixt. from stage (A). Pref. all constituents except C3H8 and C3H6 are removed after stage (A). Stage (B) is carried out in 2 consecutive reactors charged with multi-metal oxide catalysts, the first of Mo-Bi-Fe and the second of Mo-V. The prod. gas mixt. from the first oxidn. reactor is passed directly into the second; and the vol. ratio of organic cpd. for partial oxidn. (C3H6 or (II)) to O2 is 1:(1-3) in both reactors.

Abstract: Procedimiento para la obtención de acroleína o de ácido acrílico o sus mezclas a partir de propano, en el cual: A) en una primera etapa A se somete al propano a una deshidrogenación parcial mediante catálisis heterogénea, en fase gaseosa, con la formación de una mezcla de productos A, que contiene hidrógeno molecular, propileno y propano no convertido, B) a partir de la mezcla de productos A de la etapa A, que contiene hidrógeno, propileno y propano no convertido, se separa al menos una cantidad parcial del hidrógeno molecular de los componentes contenidos en la misma, diferentes de propano y de propileno y a continuación se emplea como mezcla de productos A¿, en una segunda etapa B, para la carga de al menos un reactor de oxidación, en el que se somete al menos en un reactor de oxidación al propileno a una oxidación parcial en fase gaseosa selectiva, catalizada de manera heterogénea, con oxígeno molecular para dar una mezcla de productos B, que contiene acroleína o ácido acrílico o sus mezclas, como producto final, y C) a partir de la mezcla de productos B, que se obtiene en el ámbito de la oxidación parcial del propileno en la etapa B, se separa el producto final en una tercera etapa C y se recicla el propano no convertido hasta la etapa de deshidrogenación A, contenido al menos en la mezcla de productos de la etapa B, caracterizado porque en el ámbito de la oxidación parcial del propileno se emplea, de manera concomitante, en la etapa B, nitrógeno molecular a modo de gas diluyente.
