The WMAN management plane is responsible for the RRM and HO management. Several physical and logical network architecture options for WMAN management are proposed.

Abstract: A wireless communication system including at least one IEEE 802 multi-stack wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) and a plurality of technologically diversified access networks, such as IEEE 802.X networks and Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) networks, that are concurrently deployed, Both the multi-stack WTRU and the technologically-diversified networks include a media independent handover (MIH) function.; The WTRU is configured to read MIH information transmitted from one of the IEEE 802.X networks, trigger 3GPP authentication and authorization procedures based on the MIH information, obtain a local Internee protocol (IP) address, establish a tunnel to a packet data gateway (PDG) in a 3GPP core network, construct a care of address (CoA) and register the CoA with a home agent of the WTRU, whereby data destined for the WTRU is routed via the home agent through a new tunnel established between the home agent and a foreign agent based on the CoA.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting data flow control in a wireless mesh network by reporting to a source mesh point (MP) in a particular path the allowed data rate that each MP in the path may support. The source MP sends, over the path, a data packet destined which includes a flow identification (ID) field and an available data rate field to a destination MP. An acknowledgement (ACK) packet including the same fields is sent in response to the data packet. The source MP adjusts a data rate in accordance with the available data rate field in the ACK packet. Alternatively, a congestion indication field may be used instead of the available data rate field to indicate that congestion exists on the path. Additionally, a quality of service (QoS) field indicating QoS parameters for the data flow may be included in the data and ACK packets.

Abstract: Se describe un metodo y sistema para realizar seleccion de enlace dinamica (DLS) entre unidades transmisoras/receptoras (TRU). Una primera TRU determina si una segunda TRU tiene interconexiones multiples con una capacidad DLS. Si la segunda TRU tiene interconexiones multiples con la capacidad DLS, la primera TRU envia un paquete a la segunda TRU a traves de un enlace seleccionado. La primera TRU despues recibe un informa de la segunda TRU y evalua la calidad del enlace en base en el reporte. La primera TRU selecciona un enlace de un paquete nuevo de acuerdo con criterio predeterminado y la calidad del enlace. Si la segunda TRU no tiene interconexiones multiples con la capacidad DLS, la primera TRU envia periodicamente paquetes de sonda a la segunda TRU via todos los enlaces disponibles. La segunda TRU envia paquetes de respuesta y la primera TRU evalua la calidad del enlace en base en las estadisticas de los paquetes de respuesta.

Abstract: The method involves sending a measurement request message from a source node to an intermediate node. The measurement request message is forwarded to a next hop node, when the intermediate node receives the measurement request message. Measurements are conducted by the intermediate node, where the intermediate node sends a measurement report message back to the source node. The measurements are conducted by a final destination node, and a measurement report message is sent to the source node. An independent claim is also included for a communication system for collecting and reporting measurement results, comprising a source node for sending a measurement request message to an intermediate node.

En otra modalidad, un nodo fuente envia un mensaje de solicitud de medicion a un nodo de destino final, por lo que cada nodo a lo largo de la ruta envia individualmente un mensaje de reporte de medicion al nodo fuente. De manera alternativa, los resultados de medicion de cada nodo se combinan y se anexan al mensaje de solicitud de medicion y un mensaje de informe de medicion que incluye los resultados de medicion combinados se envia al nodo fuente.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for triggering procedures to handover an ongoing communication session between a mobile station (MS) and a correspondent node (CoN) from via a first network of a first type to via a second network of a different type. Communication session continuity is maintained by transferring communication session context information when a handover is imminent from a network component in a first network path to a network component in a second network path, and by forwarding downlink and uplink signals via the network components in both the first and second network paths until the ongoing communication session can be established via the second network path. The context information includes the session communication parameters, such that the second network path can allocate resources and establish routing between the MS and the CoN.

Abstract: A method and system for performing dynamic link selection (DLS) between transmit/receive units (TRUs). A first TRU determines whether a second TRU has multiple interfaces with a DLS capability. If the second TRU has multiple interfaces with the DLS capability, the first TRU sends a packet to the second TRU through a selected link. The first TRU then receives a report from the second TRU and evaluates quality of the link based on the report. The first TRU selects a link for a new packet in accordance with a predetermined criteria and the quality of the link. If the second TRU does not have multiple interfaces with the DLS capability, the first TRU periodically sends probe packets to the second TRU via all available links. The second TRU sends response packets and the first TRU evaluates the quality of link based on statistics of the response packets.
