Abstract: A method for battery conservation in a wireless communication system begins with requesting a battery level measurement from a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) (102) by a radio network controller (RNC) (104). The battery lev el is measured at the WTRU (102) and is reported to the RNC (104). The battery level measurement is stored in the RNC (104), where it can be accessed by radio resource management (RRM) (100) procedures. The battery level measurement is applied to the RRM (100) procedures by making adjustments to the procedures based on the battery level measurement, whereby the battery o f the WTRU (102) is conserved.

Abstract: A method and system for performing dynamic link selection (DLS) between transmit/receive units (TRUs). A first TRU determines whether a second TRU has multiple interfaces with a DLS capability. If the second TRU has multiple interfaces with the DLS capability, the first TRU sends a packet to the second TRU through a selected link. The first TRU then receives a report from the second TRU and evaluates quality of the link based on the report. The first TRU selects a link for a new packet in accordance with a predetermined criteria and the quality of the link. If the second TRU does not have multiple interfaces with the DLS capability, the first TRU periodically sends probe packets to the second TRU via all available links. The second TRU sends response packets and the first TRU evaluates the quality of link based on statistics of the response packets.

Abstract: A method and WTRU comprising: receiving, by a first wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) via a second WTRU a request; determining, by the first WTRU, whether accepting the request would cause an operational parameter to exceed a threshold; on condition that the first WTRU determines to reject the request, transmitting, by the first WTRU to the second WTRU, a response indicating that the request is rejected and a reason for rejection, the response including an offer that is acceptable to the first WTRU to at least modify resources associated with the request; and on condition that the first WTRU determines that accepting the request would not cause the operational parameter to exceed the threshold, transmitting by the first WTRU to the second WTRU a response indicating that the request is accepted. In another embodimetn, a method and WTRU comprising: receiving, by a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) a request; determining, by the WTRU, whether accepting the request would cause an operational parameter to exceed a threshold; selecting, based on the determination, among responding to the request by: indicating that the request is accepted, on condition that accepting the request would not cause the operational parameter to exceed the threshold; indicating that the request is rejected, and providing a reason for rejection; and indicating that the request is rejected, and providing an offer that would to be accepted by the WTRU to modify resources associated with the request.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for confirming the delivery of a data packet in a mesh network by sending an acknowledgement (ACK) to an ingress mesh point (IMP). A mesh network comprises a plurality of mesh points that are wirelessly linked together. A data packet sent by a station (STA) is received by an IMP. A MAC frame is generated for transmission of the data packet and the frame is forwarded to an egress mesh point (EMP) in order to provide a service by the mesh network. The MAC frame includes a field comprising an IMP address and an EMP address. When the EMP, (or optionally an intermediate mesh point), receives a data packet successfully, the EMP or the intermediate mesh point sends an ACK to the IMP or preceding mesh point.

Abstract: A mesh network includes a plurality of mesh points (MPs), a central database (DB) and a central controller (CC). The MPs are configured to broadcast quality of service (QoS) information over a wireless medium. Each MP may request QoS information directly from at least one other one of the MPs. The MPs store QoS information in the central DB and are configured to query the central DB QoS information associated with any of the MPs. Thus, QoS information is shared throughout the mesh network, and QoS policies are defined and updated where an MP may co-exist with another MP, an MP may co-exist with systems external to the mesh network, and an MP may co-exist with mesh access points (MAPs).

Abstract: A method and system for managing radio resources in a time-slotted wireless communication system is based on the quality of service (QoS) information of a user. A plurality of time slots of a radio resource are sorted into a plurality of different categories, such as high QoS time slots, high capacit y time slots, and balanced time slots (305). Each category is associated with a different level of QoS. QoS information with respect to a user is obtained i n response to a radio resource request received from the user (310). The user is associated with a particular category of time slots based on the QoS information of the user (315).
