Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject improving agent capable of exhibiting excellent compacting property without depending on kinds of earth and sand by including a specific alcohol ethoxylate. SOLUTION: This improving agent comprises a secondary alcohol ethoxylate of the formula [(m+n) is 7-11; and X is an average addition mole number of ethylene oxide of 5-12]. A secondary alcohol ethoxylate having 12-14 Griffin HLB number, especially represented by the formula [(m+n) is 9-11; and X is 7-11] is preferable as the secondary alcohol ethoxylate of the formula. It is preferable that preferably >=50 wt.%, further preferably >=80 wt.%, especially preferably substantially all of the improving agent comprises the secondary alcohol ethoxylate of the formula. An amount of the improving agent added to earth and sand is preferably 0.001-2 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of earth and sand. Thereby, excellent compacting property can be expected without being limited by kinds of earth and sand and qualities, amounts, etc. of organic substances contained in earth and sand.

SOLUTION: This additive comprises a vinyl-based polymer having a 2-3C oxyalkylene group in a molecule, and 500-500,000 number average molecular weight (e.g. methanol-EO-monoester of methacrylic acid/Na acrylate), and a cationic compound having a tertiary N atom, preferably a compound having an 8-36C hydrophobic group and/or of formulas I-V (R1 and R2 are each a 10-24C alkyl, an alkenyl or a β-hydroxyalkyl; R3 to R5 are each a 1-5C alkyl, a hydroxyalkyl, benzyl or the like; R6 is an 8-36C alkyl, an alkenyl or a β- hydroxyalkyl; X1 is a counterion; Y1 is R6, R6COOCH2, R6CONHCH2 or R6OCH2).

SOLUTION: A monomer (A) represented by formula I, a monomer (B) represented by formula II, a monomer (C) represented by formula III and further, a monomer (D) represented by formula IV, V or VI and a monomer (E) represented by formula VII are polymerized in a weight ration of A/B/C=(51-80)/(10-45)/(1-40), a weight ratio (A+D+E)/B/C=(51-80)/(10-45)/(1-40) and a weight ratio A/(D+E)=(50-100)/(0-50) to obtain an objective admixture comprising a copolymer having a wt. average mol.wt. of 10,000-200,000. In the formulae, R1 -R4 , R6 , R7 , R10 , R11 and R13 are each H or methyl, R8 and R9 are each 2-4C alkylene or the like; R12 is 1-6c alkyl or the like; AO is 2-3C oxyalkylene; X1 and X2 are each H or 1-3C alkyl; M1 -M7 are each H, an alkali metal or the like; n1 is 80-300; and n2 is 5-30.

SOLUTION: This additive for a mortar contains a polysaccharide derivative obtained by substituting hydrogen atoms of a part or the whole hydroxyl groups of a polysaccharide or its alkylated or hydroxy alkylated derivative with (A) a hydrophobic substituent group containing a 8-40C hydrocarbon chain as a partial structure and (B) an ionic hydrophilic substituent group containing one or more groups selected from the group consisting of a sulfonic group, a carboxyl group, a sulfate group and their salts as a partial structure. The admixture is mixed with a cement material and a fine aggregate to give a mortar composition. The degree of substitution of the substituent A is 0.0001-1 based on the constituent monosaccharide residue and that of the substituent B is 0.001-2.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the lowering of viscosity in a predetermined flowing state by adding a water-soluble cocondensate or watersoluble copolymer into which an oxypropylene group and/or a random polymerized chain of an oxypropylene group and an oxyethylene group is introduced as an essential component. SOLUTION: A water-soluble cocondensate or water-soluble copolymer into which an oxypropylene. group and/or a random polymerized chain (A) of an oxybutylene group and an oxyethylene group is introduced is contained as an essential component. When an oxypropylene group and/or a random polymerized chain (MO chain) of an oxybutylene group and an oxyethylene group is introduced into an AO chain, viscosity is reduced to a large extent as compared with such a case that a block polymerized chain of a polyethylene oxide, polypropylene oxide chain or a polybutylene oxide chain is introduced. In order to more stabilize the effect reducing viscosity, it is pref. that an addition mol number of an oxypropylene group and/or an oxybutylene group is 10% of an MO chain or more.

SOLUTION: This admixture is obtained by blending a copolymer, prepared by eopolymerizing a monomer of formula I [R1 and R2 are each H or methyl; (m1 ) is 0-2; AO is a 2-3C oxyalkylene; (n) is 2-100; X is H or a 1-3C alkyll with a monomer of formula II [R3 to R6 are each H, methyl or one to two COOM groups; M is H, an alkali(alkaline earth) metal, ammonium or a (substituted) alkylammonium] or formula III [R7 is R1 ; Y is H, an alkali(alkaline earth) metal, ammonium or a (substituted) alkylammonium] at (1/100) to (100/100) molar ratio and having 2000-500000 weight-average molecular weight (measured by a get permeation chromatography/expressed in terms of sodium styrenesulfonate) with a water-soluble salt of a naphthalenesulfonic acid- formaldehyde condensate having 2000-500000 weight-average molecular weight so as to provide (100/1) to (100/80) weight ratio of the copolymer to the water- soluble salt of the naphthalenesulfonlc acid-formaldehyde condensate.
