Abstract: PURPOSE:A heat-resistant adhesive, consisting of a polyimide having repeating units of a specific structure and inherent viscosity within a specific range, having improved heat resistance and adhesive force, soluble in low-boiling solvents, having good operability and useful for bonding electrical and electronic apparatus, etc. CONSTITUTION:An adhesive, consisting of a polyimide having repeating units expressed by the formula and having 0.05-1.5dl/g inherent viscosity (measured by using a solution in N,N-dimethylacetamide in 0.5g/100ml solvent concentration at 35 deg.C) and obtained by reacting, e.g. 2,2-bis[4-(3-aminophenoxy) phenyl]propane with 3,3',4,4'-benzophenonetetracarboxylic acid dianhydride to form a polyamic acid and dehydrocylcizing the resultant polyamic acid. The above-mentioned adhesive is preferably used by dissolving in an aliphatic halogenated hydrocarbon.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for agricultural chemicals and drugs from inexpensive raw materials mildly and easily in high purity and in high yield, by reacting meta-nitrophenol with meta- dinitrobenzene in the presence of a base in an aprotic polar solvent. CONSTITUTION:Meta-nitrophenol is reacted with meta-dinitrobenzene in the presence of a base (e.g., alkali metal carbonate, alkali metal hydrogencarbonate, etc.) in an aprotic polar solvent (e.g., formamide, N-methylformamide, N,N- dimethylformamide, etc.) to give 3,3'-dinitrodiphenyl ether. This method has high conversion ratio to the aimed substance and high selectivity, a small amount of by-products such as tar, etc., consequently the aimed substance is easily purified.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled product having improved heat resistance, electric characteristics and mechanical characteristics in good film-forming properties, by adding an amide polar solvent to an ether solvent solution containing an aromatic polyamic acid having a specific viscosity, to give a raw material solution. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, (B) 1-20pts.wt. amide-based polar solvent (preferably N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, etc.) is added to (A) 100pts.wt. ether-based solvent solution containing 5-50wt% aromatic polyamic acid having 0.1dl/g (measured in N,N-dimethylacetamide solvent at 0.5g/100ml solvent at 35 deg.C) logarithmic viscosity. Then, the solution is cast into a substrate, heated, so the solvent is removed and a dehydration reaction takes place, to give the aimed product. The component A is preferably obtianed by reacting an acid anhydride component such as pyromellitic dianhyride, etc., with a diamine component such as m-phenyl-diamine, etc., in an ether solvent.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain the titled substance useful as an intermediate for a diamine which is a raw material of agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, polyamides, etc., in high yield, at a low cost, by the self-condensation reaction of m- dinitrobenzene in an aprotic polar solvent in the presence of a nitrous acid salt. CONSTITUTION:The titled substance can be produced by the self-condensation reaction of m-dinitrobenzene in an aprotic polar solvent (preferably 1,3- dimethyl-2-imidazolidinone) in the presence of 0.1-2mol (based on 1mol of the raw material) of a nitrous acid salt (e.g. potassium nitrite, calcium nitrite, etc.) at 140-200 deg.C. A copper compound or a phase-transfer catalyst such as crown ether, quaternary ammonium salt, etc., may be used as the catalyst. EFFECT:The process is economical because the raw material is available at a low cost and the conversion and selectivity to the objective compound is high. The product can be purified easily.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyimide powder by bringing a polyimide solution comprising a polyimide having structural units represented by a specific formula and a phenolic solvent into contact with a poor solvent for the polyimide and separating the crystals thus deposited. SOLUTION: A diamine, such as 4,4'-bis(3-aminophenoxy)biphenyl, and a tetracarboxylic acid anhydride, such as pyromellitic acid dianhydride and biphenyltetracarboxylic acid dianhydride, are added to a phenolic solvent, such as m-cresol, and the mixture is heated under stirring for a predetemined time. After completion of the reaction, the reaction solution is maintained at a temperature above approximately 50 deg.C and below the boiling point of a poor solvent, such as toluene, and the poor solvent is added thereto dropwise in an amount of not less than about 10 times that of the polymer powder and at a rate of addition of not more than 6 times the theoretical yield of the polymer powder per hour. The thus-deposited crystalline powder of a polyimide having structural units of formula I (wherein X is formula II; R1 to R3 are each H, a lower alkyl, phenyl, biphenyl, etc.; Y is formula III) is separated by filtration under pressure and dried in an atmosphere of nitrogen to obtain a polyimide powder.

The component B is e.g. 1.3,2.4-di-(methylbenzylidene)sorbitol and the composition may further be incorporated with an additive such as antioxidant.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liq.-crystalline polyamide-imide copolymer excellent in heat resistance, mechanical properties, processibility, thermotropic liq.-crystalline properties, resistance to water absorption. chemical resistance, etc., by selecting a specific polyamide-imide copolymer. SOLUTION: This liq.-crystalline polyamide-imide copolymer comprises 5-95mol% repeating structural units represented by formula I and 95-5mol% repeating structural units represented by formula II. The molecular ends of the copolymer may be blocked with an arom. dicarboxylic anhydride represented by formula I or IV (wherein Y and Z are each a 6-15C monocyclic arom. group, a condensed polycyclic arom. group, or a noncondensed polycyclic arom. group; and X a halogen) or an arom. monocarboxylic anhydride and/or an arom. monoamide represented by the formula: V-NH2 (wherein V is the same as Y or Z). The copolymer is used for a sliding member, a heat-resistant fiber, a molding, or a film.
