    Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate utilizing restriction codes in rejecting connection requests with restricted association access points to indicate a reason for the rejection. Mobile devices can maintain a list of accessible access points and/or groups of access points, which can be consulted during cell reselection to ensure unsuitable restricted association access points are not utilized in cell reselection. Based on receiving a rejection code from a restricted association access point, a mobile device can remove the access point, or a related group, from its maintained list so that subsequent reselection attempts avoid the access point and/or access points in the related group.

    Abstract: Provisioning and access control for communication nodes involves assigning identifiers to sets of nodes where the identifiers may be used to control access to restricted access nodes that provide certain services only to certain defined sets of nodes. In some aspects provisioning a node may involve providing a unique identifier (402) for sets of one or more nodes such as restricted access points (102, 104) and access terminals (106, 108) that are authorized to receive service from the restricted access points (102, 104). Access control may be provided by operation of a restricted access point and/or a network node (110). In some aspects, provisioning a node involves providing a preferred roaming list for the node. In some aspects, a node may be provisioned with a preferred roaming list through the use of a bootstrap beacon.

    Abstract: A method for determining cell information for cell reselection in a wireless communication network and a wireless communications apparatus that facilitates determining information related to an access point in a wireless network are disclosed. The wireless communications apparatus comprises means for receiving a pilot signal from an access point; means for receiving a pilot identifier comprised within the pilot signal; means for determining a type of the access point based at least in part on associating the pilot identifier with a range of identifiers; and means for verifying an association of the wireless communication apparatus with the access point when it is determined that the type of the access point is a femtocell. The means for receiving the pilot signal, the means for receiving the pilot identifier, the means for determining the type of the access point, and the means for verifying the association can comprise at least one processor configured to receive the pilot signal broadcasted from the access point; obtain the pilot identifier comprised within the pilot signal that uniquely identifies the access point; detect the type of the access point based at least in part on associating the pilot identifier with the range of identifiers; and verify the association when it is determined from the range of pilot identifiers that the type of the access point is a femtocell. The apparatus comprises a memory coupled to the at least one processor. A method for selecting pilot identifiers for access points in a wireless communication network and a wireless communications apparatus that facilitates indicating access point information in wireless communications are disclosed. The wireless communications apparatus comprises means for receiving a type of an access point for communicating in a wireless communication network; means for determining a range of pilot identifiers related to the type of the access point; and means for selecting a pilot identifier from the range of pilot identifiers for subsequent transmission in a pilot signal over the wireless communication network. The pilot identifier is selected to correspond with an availability of services provided by the access point to one or more mobile devices. The means for receiving the type of the access point, the means for determining the range of pilot identifiers, and the means for selecting the pilot identifier can comprise at least one processor configured to detect a type of an access point for communicating in a wireless communication network; determine a range of pilot identifiers related to the type of the access point; and select a pilot identifier from the range of pilot identifiers for subsequent transmission in a pilot signal over the wireless communication network for identifying the access point. The apparatus comprises a memory coupled to the at least one processor.
