    Abstract: Confusion resulting from assigning the same node identifier to multiple nodes is resolved through the use of confusion detection techniques and the use of unique identifiers for the nodes. In some aspects a network may provide a time gap (e.g., an asynchronous time gap) during which an access terminal may temporarily cease monitoring transmissions from a source node so that the access terminal may acquire a unique identifier from a target node. In some aspects an access terminal may commence handover operations at a target node after determining whether the access terminal is allowed to access the target node. In some aspects a source node may prepare several target nodes for potential handover in the event confusion is detected or likely. Here, the source node may send information relating to the preparation of the potential target nodes to the access terminal whereby the access terminal uses the handover preparation information to initiate a handover at that target node.

    Abstract: Providing paging controls for mobile communication is described herein. By way of example, the paging controls can comprise paging occasions of a wireless signal determined from a formula based on an integer raised to a function of a constant power (e.g., 2^K or 2^(K-L), where K and/or L are constant). Selected paging occasions can be grouped within the wireless signal, or distributed throughout a subset of time frames of the signal. Furthermore, paging groups can be assigned to each of the paging occasions by employing distinct identifiers of mobile device assigned to each paging occasion. By employing various paging occasions and paging groups, false alarm pages can be mitigated. According to at least one aspect, system information can be efficiently broadcast to multiple devices (e.g., all devices in a cell) by employing at least one paging group assigned for cell-wide paging.

    Abstract: A delta configuration is transmitted to a UE requesting a handover wherein the delta configuration details changes that are required for the current UE configuration in order to execute the handover. The handover is initiated via a measurement report transmitted to a currently serving source eNode B from the UE. The measurement report can comprise one or more of current radio conditions, current UE configuration or a preferred target eNode B if the handover is a inter eNode B handover. In a inter eNB handover, the current UE configuration is forwarded to the preferred target eNode B by the source eNode B. The target eNode B generates the delta configuration and transmits it to the source eNode B in a transparent container which is subsequently forwarded to the UE.

    Abstract: Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate employing a random access procedure that leverages encrypted and/or unencrypted data in a scheduled uplink message. A random access preamble can be sent from an access terminal to a base station, and a random access response can be sent from the base station to the access terminal. A scheduled transmission message can be sent from the access terminal to the base station based upon a grant included in the random access response. When contention based random access is employed, the scheduled transmission message or a portion thereof can be unencrypted. Further, non-security-critical information can be sent in an unencrypted manner in the scheduled transmission message, while security-critical information can be encrypted for transmission (e.g., included in an encrypted portion of the scheduled transmission message and/or transmitted in a subsequent encrypted normal scheduled transmission message).
