    Abstract: An acoustic window intended for land transport vehicles is proposed. Its index of acoustic attenuation differs by no more than 5dB from an index increasing by 3dB per octave from 800 to 2000 Hz, and by 1 dB per octave above this range. The examples are doubled-glazed windows or laminated windows in which the intermediate layer has a high attenuation. It is effective with respect to aerodynamic noise.

    Abstract: The acoustic insulation unit for an air hole in a window frame consists of a cover for the hole which encloses an absorbent element. The unit is made in the form of a casing, e.g. of aluminium or a synthetic material, containing an absorbent element which is of a larger area than the holes in the window frame. In between the absorbent element and the frame there is a gap which forms a duct joining all the air holes along one side of the frame. The casing can be aligned symmetrically with the hole or offset to one side. The frame can have an insulation unit on one or both sides.

The invention allows a reduction in the thickness of glass sheets without degradation of the vibro-acoustic damping properties. Fig. 1.
