Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the stable floating of a head slider even if the floating height of the head slider is small by a method wherein a recess which gives a dynamic pressure which is necessary to make the head slider float when the head slider approaches a protrusion. SOLUTION: Rails 6a and 6b which function as air bearing surfaces are formed on both the sides of the lower surface of a head slider 6. Tapered parts 6c and 6d are formed on the air flowing-in end sides of the rails 6a and 6b. With this constitution, when the head slider 6 approaches the surface of a rotating magnetic disc 3, a floating force is applied to the head slider 6 by the air flowing into a space between the rails 6a and 6b and the surface of the disc 3. The head slider 6 and a magnetic head 8 are made to float and run above the surface of the disc 3 with a minute spacing (floating height) therebetween.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a high capacity magnetic disk with recording capacity of IGB or above. CONSTITUTION: This disk is the magnetic disk having a servo pit part formed on a non-magnetic substrate 1 as an irregular pattern. The rise angle and the fall angle of the projecting part 3 of the servo pit part are made 45 deg.-90 deg., and further, pulse interval of a servo signal regenerated from the servo pit part is controlled to 0. 4μm or below. Thus, the servo signal is regenerated in a high output and a high S/N ratio while increasing the linear density of the servo pit part.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To simplify the operation of writing a reproducing only data to the discoid recording medium, and to improve productivity of a discoid recording medium. CONSTITUTION: This is a data recorder for recording the data to a magnetic disk 1 on which a recessed part 14 and a projection part 13 corresponding to the data are formed, and which is coated with magnetic layers 31 and 32 along the formed recessed part 14 and projection part 13. The device is equipped with a magnetic head 2 which is opposed to the recessed part 14 and the projection part 13 and impresses a magnetic field M1 on the recessed part 14 and the projection part 13, and the magnetic field is impressed on recessed part 14 and the projection part 13 in one direction, and also a reverse magnetic field M2 is impressed on the projection part 13 in the reverse direction by the magnetic head 2. The ROM data are written by magnetizing the recessed part 14 and the projection part 13 in the different directions.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a thin film magnetic head which has both a high recording/ reproducing efficiency and a high reproducing sensitivity, exhibits the essential capability of a double-layer medium sufficiently and can constitute a recording unit and a reproducing unit into a one-piece construction. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic circuit which is composed of a main pole 2 to which at least a signal field is applied and an auxiliary pole 10 which forms a closed magnetic path between the layers permeating magnetic field, is formed on a nonmagnetic substrate 1. A bias layer 4 which applies a bias magnetic field to an MR device 3 whose electrical resistance is changed by the application of a magnetic field, is provided and a coil 9 is provided in an insulating member 8 which separates the main pole 2 from the auxiliary pole 10. The MR device 3 is magnetically connected in series to an auxiliary gap 6 which is a part of the magnetic circuit whose thickness is only the thickness of the main pole of which the magnetic unit of a unipole-type thin film magnetic head is composed.

The respective perpendicular magnetizing directions m1 and m2 of the protruding parts 13 and the recessed parts 14 are opposite to each other and the writing of a positioning signal is performed.

Moreover, the specific permeability mu of a soft magnetic core member being a component of the magnetic core 3 is selected to be larger than 2000. Thus, even in the case of the magnetic head of a narrow track width whose track width is =60% is realized similarly to the case of the magnetic head whose track width >=5mum such as 10mum.
