Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new photochromic material, comprising a specific spirobenzoxazine compound, normally colorless and capable of developing a color by irradiation with ultraviolet rays, reversibly carrying out the development of the color and decolorization and manifesting hues of rich color development species, a high temperature for enabling the color development and good fatigue resistance. SOLUTION: This photochromic material is a compound represented by formula I [R is a 1-20C (substituted) alkyl (Ra ), a 7-20C (substituted) aralkyl (Rh ) or a 6-19C (substituted) aryl (Rc ); R is OH, a (substituted) amino, a 1-20C alkoxy, etc.; R and R are each R and R and R together may form a 3-10C (substituted) cycloalkyl including the carbon at the 3'-position; R to R are each H, Ra or Rb ; (1) is 1-4] and a compound represented by formula II is exemplified. The compound represented by formula I is obtained by adding a compound represented by formula III to a quaternizing agent which is a compound represented by the formula R -X (X is an anionically eliminable group), a basic substance and a compound represented by formula IV in an optional order and carrying out a reaction.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery in which reduction in a high output capacity/low output capacity is lessened by limiting a relationship between conductivity and viscosity of a non-aqueous electrolytic solution in a nonaqueous secondary battery. SOLUTION: In a secondary battery provided with a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a nonaqueous electrolytic solution containing LiBF4 as electrolyte, a ratio (p)=σ/η of the conductivity σ (10 S/cm) to the viscosity η(cps) of the nonaqueous electrolytic solution is 0.5 or more. A mixture of a high dielectric constant solvent and a low viscosity solvent is desirable for a solvent constituent of the nonaqueous electrolytic solution. A combination of cyclic carbonate and chain carbonate is especially suitable, as it increase a high output capacity.

The weight ratio of the component B to the component A is 0.05-0.3.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To realize the efficient synthesis of the subject material capable of being colored in purple to red with high density by using a specified compound as the constituent. CONSTITUTION:A dihydroxynaphthalene of formula I is reacted with a compound of formula II (wherein X is an anionic group that can be eliminated) under basic conditions to give a compound of formula III, which is then nitrosated to give a compound of formula IV. This compound is reacted with a compound of formula V to give a photochromic material comprising a compound having polymerizable substituents of formula VI (wherein R is a substituent comprising, e.g. 1-20C alkyl or 2-20C alkenyl; R and R are each independently R or, when dependent, share a carbon atom with each other to form a 3-10C ring; R , R and R are each a substituent comprising, e.g. 1-20C alkoxy or 7-15C aralkoxy; R is a substituent comprising, e.g. 1-20C alkoxy, 7-15C aralkoxy or H; R is a substituent comprising, e.g. 1-20C alkyl; (l), (m) and (n) are each 0 to 4; and at least one of R to R is a polymerizable substituent).
