    Abstract: PURPOSE:To enhance dimensional stability and better plane properties to prevent unevenness of thickness by slowly cooling down to room temperature after imparting to a reinforced PET film finished in heat treatment a specified amount of limpness to the progressing direction of film at a specified temperature. CONSTITUTION:A film, not oriented substantially, consisting mainly of polyethylene terephthalate is oriented by 3.0-5.0 times at 80-130 deg.C in length and breadth to make a biaxial oriented film. Next, the same is biaxially oriented simultaneously by 1.0-2.0 times at 110-180 deg.C in length and breadth while both ends are being grasped with clips. Then the same is heat-treated at 160-240 deg.C. After that, 0.1-2% limpness is imparted to the progressing direction of film (longitudinal direction) at a temperature of 80-130 deg.C and the film is slowly cooled down to room temperature at 3-20 deg.C/sec to be wound up. Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is a polymer, a copolymer or a mixture comprising ethylene terephthalate unit more than 70mol% of molecular constitution. The melting point of polymer is more than 250 deg.C, preferably more than 255 deg.C.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide the titled film having excellent gas barrier properties and impact resistance, by molding a copolyester having specified structural units into a film. CONSTITUTION:A dicarboxyl acid consisting of 1,2-bis(2-chlorophenoxy) ethane-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid (ester) and isophthalic acid (ester) is polycondensed with ethylene glycol and a dicarboxylic acid (ester) of formula I and/or an oxycarboxylic acid (ester) of formula II to obtain a copolyester composed of structural units of formulas III, IV, V and/or VI in such a molar ratio as to satisfy the relationships of formulas VII and VIII. The polyester is extruded into a film, which is then biaxially oriented to obtain a biaxially oriented copolyester film having a melt viscosity of 500-20,000P and Young's modulus of 900kg/mm or above in the sum of lengthwise and widthwise directions.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To stably make the re-stretching with high draw ratio possible by a method wherein, firstly, un-stretched film is stretched longitudinally; secondly, stretched laterally by the specified method and finally re-stretched at least in one direction. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, un-stretched film is stretched longitudinally. Secondly, under the state that the temperature at the edge of the resultant film to be laterally stretched is made lower than that at the central part of the film by 2 deg.C or more, the resultant film is laterally stretched so as to realize the conditions that the double refraction index of the film portion, which ranges from the film clamping position by 10-50mm to the center of the film, is 0.05-0.20 and the at the same time the mean thickness of said film portion is 3-15 times as thick as that of the center of the film. Thirdly, the resultant biaxially stretched film is re-stretched in al least either one out of the longitudinal or lateral direction. At this time, the re-heating treatment of the film can also be performed, when necessary. Thus, the breakage of the film is hard to develop, even when the re-draw ratio is higher and the manufacture of the film with high Young's modulus becomes stably possible at a high yield.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To make it possible to stably perform the longitudinal re-stretching of a biaxially stretched film having an arbitrary width for a long time without bursting said film, by adjusting both metal rolls used as a low speed drive nip roll and a high speed drive roll to a specific temp. range. CONSTITUTION:In performing the longitudinal re-stretching of a biaxially stretched polyester film between low sped drive nip rolls, a metal roll 3 of which the surface timp. is 100-195 deg.C and a covered roll 4 having a polyurethane cover layer having a thickness of 4-25mm and hardness of 70-95 are used. The polyurethane forming the cover layer of the covered roll is prepared by crosslinking a stock polymer having an urethane bond (-NHCOO-) in the pres ence of diisocyanate or aromatic diamine. The value of the nip force between the low speed drive nip rolls must be 0.1-5kg/cm, pref., 0.5-3kg/cm. As the high speed drive roll, a metal roll, of which the surface temp. is adjusted to 75 deg.C or less, is used.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester film having excellent smoothness, slipperiness, and adhesiveness, by incorporating a specified fluorine compound into a polyester essentially consisting of ethylene terephthalate units. CONSTITUTION:A film is made by incorporating 0.01-5pts.wt. fluorine compound having the number of carbon atoms of 4-50, a melting point of 30-280 deg.C, and a decomposition temperature of 280 deg.C or higher into 100pts.wt. polyester essentially consisting of ethylene terephthalate repeating units. The polyester to be used is a homopolyester or a copolyester containing not less than 70wt%, preferably not less than 85wt% polyethylene terephthalate as its main component. When the melting point of the fluorine compound is below 30 deg.C, bleedout will be severe, thus decreasing the adhesiveness; when it is above 280 deg.C, the dispersibility in polyester will become poorer, leading to the lack in surface smoothness of the film.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a polyester film with a high Young's modulus and a better dimensional stability without degrading the heat treatability by performing a biaxial drawing and a heat treatment of an unstretched film of polyester having ethylene alpha,beta-bis(2-chlorophenoxy)ethane 4,4'-dicaboxylate as main repeated unit on a specified condition. CONSTITUTION:An unstretched film produced by extruding material with an melt extruder and cooling to harden it is oriented biaxially by biaxial drawing. In this case, it is necessary that the length-wise draw factor (a) and the width- wise draw factor beta should meet the formulas (1) and (2). The biaxially oriented film thus obtained is heat treated immediately. The heat treating temperature must be 225-260 deg.C, preferably 230-250 deg.C. It is necessary that an elongation should be given only in one way at the rate of 6-50%, preferably, 7-40% as against the original length in the heat treatment.
