Abstract:
A spectrally tunable optical detector and methods of manufacture therefore are provided. In one illustrative embodiment, the tunable optical detector includes a tunable bandpass filter, a detector and readout electronics, each supported by a different substrate. The substrates are secured relative to one another to form the spectrally tunable optical detector.
Abstract:
A seat bottom assembly includes a seat bottom frame and an anti-submarining device having a pivot shaft and a panel. The frame extends along a longitudinal axis between a front edge and a rear edge and the pivot shaft is mounted on the frame. The panel extends along the longitudinal axis between a front edge and a rear edge and is mounted to the pivot shaft for pivoting movement between a design position and an open position angularly spaced from the design position. The panel opposes forward displacement of an occupant supported by the frame while in the open position. The rear edge of the panel is spaced forward of a midpoint of the frame such that only a forward portion of the seat bottom assembly between the midpoint and the front edge of the frame opposes forward displacement of the occupant when the panel is in the open position.
Abstract:
A telescopic tilting device 12 comprises a telescopic arm 14 which is extendable and retractable along an arcuate path 16. Preferably, the telescopic arm 14 includes two arcuate members 22, 24 which are telescopically slidable relative to each other. More preferably, the device further comprises a drive unit 20 having a flexible belt 43 for moving the telescopic arm 14. There is also provided an endoscope holding device 10 which has such a telescopic tilting device 12.
Abstract:
An endoscope device comprises a replaceable endoscope probe, a carriage for holding the endoscope probe, a zoom unit, a tilting unit, and a rotation unit. Preferably, the tilting unit comprises a telescopic arm which is extendable and retractable along an arcuate path, the telescopic arm includes two rigid arcuate members which are telescopically slidable relative to each other, wherein the tilting device is rotatable about an axis of rotation which passes through the fixed point, so that the telescopic arm is movable in a plane perpendicular to the axis of rotation.
Abstract:
A linear actuator includes a stationary part, a movable part moveably supported by the stationary part, and at least one elastic member disposed between the movable part and the stationary part. The stationary part includes a stator core with a pair of teeth extending inwardly there from, and a winding wound on each of the teeth. The movable part disposed between the teeth includes two pairs of permanent magnetic poles respectively facing the teeth and an output shaft projecting in a first direction. When the windings are electrified, the stationary part generates a magnetic field which interacts with the permanent magnetic poles to reciprocate the movable part relative to the stationary part in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction.
Abstract:
A motor stator includes a plurality of separate core segments, a plurality of coils, and a fixing ring. Each core segment includes a yoke and a tooth extending from the yoke. The yokes are connected to form a substantially circular core, with the teeth extending inwards. Each coil is wound around a corresponding tooth. The fixing ring is fixed to the outer surface of the core.

A thermal microactuator is provided that can be deflected in multiple positions. The actuator has a hot arm and a cold arm coupled together at their distal ends suspended above a reference plane of a substrate. A potential difference is applied across the hot arm so that a current circulates through the hot arm but not the cold arm.
Abstract:
A microelectromechanical relay and a method of fabricating the same that combines electrostatic actuation with electromagnetic actuation. The relay has very low contact resistance when the relay is in its ON state and enhanced contact-to-contact isolation when the relay is in its OFF state. The relay includes a substrate having a trench formed therein, a first pair of contacts located in the trench and an actuator for controllably establishing electrical contact between the first pair of contacts. The actuator includes spaced apart supports on the substrate and a movable beam extending between the supports. A contact cross bar is located on the movable beam facing the first pair of contacts. A first electrode is located on the movable beam and a second electrode is located on the substrate. Electromagnetic force is used to deflect the movable beam towards the substrate and then electrostatic force is used to bring the contact cross bar in physical contact with the first pair of contacts.
