Abstract:
The present invention provides a composition (a) a detergent package comprising: (i) a metal salixarate; and (ii) optionally a detergent other than component (a)(i); (b) a dispersant package comprising: (i) a dispersant with a carbonyl to nitrogen ratio of 1 or higher ; and (ii) a disperant with a carbonyl to nitrogen ratio of less than 1 ; (c) an antioxidant package comprising: (i) a hindered phenol; and (d) an oil of lubricating viscosity, wherein the composition has a phosphorus content of less than or equal to 800 ppm; and wherein the sulphated ash content is less than or equal to 1.1 weight percent of the composition. The invention further provides a process for preparing the composition and its use.
Abstract:
Lubricant compositions comprising (a) an oil of lubricating viscosity; and (b) at least one non-metal-containing additive, comprising a nitrogen-containing dispersant having a total base number of at least about 90 are useful for lubricating an internal combustion engine. The lubricants have less than 1.0% sulfated ash and a total base number of at least about 8.5, and at least 30% of the total base number of the composition is provided by non-metal-containing additives. The lubricants exhibit a high TBN without deterioration of elastomeric seals.
Abstract:
The invention provides a lubricating composition containing an oil of lubricating viscosity and a product obtainable from a 1,4-conjugate addition of an aminocarboxylic acid to an activated olefin. The invention further relates to a method of lubricating an internal combustion engine by lubricating the engine with the lubricating composition. The invention further relates to the use of the product disclosed herein as a lead corrosion inhibitor.
Abstract:
The present invention relates generally to polyurethane compositions; and more preferably to thermoplastic polyurethane compositions. In one embodiment, the polyurethane compositions of the present invention have high moisture vapor transmission rates and are suitable for film applications (e.g., breathable films), In another embodiment, the polyurethane compositions of the present invention contain an additive that yields an improved level of adhesion between such a polyurethane composition and a polyolefin fabric. In one embodiment, the polyurethane compositions of the present invention are prepared from the reaction of a polyol component, a polyisocyanate component and at least one chain extender in the presence of one or more adhesion promoters (e.g., one or more C 8 to C 28 fatty acids such as tall oil fatty acid (TOFA)), and optionally at least one suitable catalyst.

Abstract:
A lubricating composition containing the reaction product (a) of an aldehyde, amine and a di-secondary alkyl hindered phenol and at least one additive selected from the group consisting of hydrocarbyl diphenylamines, sterically hindered phenols other than component (a), metal hydrocarbyl dithiophasphates, sulphurised olefins and mixtures thereof. The composition has antioxidant properties for internal combustion engines without the bioaccumulation of tristert-butyl phenol.
Abstract:
A succinimide dispersant comprising the condensation product of a hydrocarbyl-substituted succinic anhydride or reactive equivalent thereof with an alkylene polyamine, wherein the alkylene polyamine is a condensed amine, exhibits improved viscometrics.
Abstract:
Fuel compositions comprising a major amount of a normally liquid fuel and a minor amount of a hydroxylamine or a salt thereof, more often wherein each hydroxylamino group of the hydroxylamine or salt thereof contains no more than one tertiary alkyl substituent. The hydroxylamine or salt thereof provide improved combustion properties to a wide variety of normally liquid fuels, including hydrocarbon based fuels, oxygenates and synthetic fuels.
