The 1st satellite 10 has a 1st, 2nd and 3rd transceivers that are used to communicate with the gateway 76, a user transceiver 78 and the 2nd satellite 11 or the like. The transceivers are connected by a mount processor and a switching matrix relaying communication with the gateway 76 and the user transceivers 78 or the like via the 2nd satellite 11. Pluralities of the user transceivers include data processors interconnected in the network via the 1st satellite.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for measuring power density in the antenna of a user terminal from closed loop power control information by means of a gateway. SOLUTION: When the gateway 18 judges that power density exceeds a threshold while connection is maintained, connection is terminated before the average transmission power density level of the user terminal 13 exceeds a prescribed threshold level and an absolute threshold level. A heating or visual indicator gives an alarm that present connection is to be terminated soon to a user. In an off period when telephone is inhibited, only the prescribed type of telephone call such as emergency telephone is permitted. A power density monitor function is provided in the user terminal and information is transmitted to the gateway through a return link 17B. A majority decision and other technology is used by the gateway before connection is terminated. In such a case, power density measurement executed in the gateway is given priority and the user terminal is prevented from intentionally or suddenly stopping the power density monitor function.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for correctly issuing a demand with respect to the amount of satellite communication system resources to be assigned and used to a user terminal for each speech or connection. SOLUTION: Data, indicating the system resource amount under use both on a forward link from a gateway through a satellite to the user terminal and on a backward link from the user terminal via the satellite to the gateway, are periodically collected during connection. These data to be used contain a power level, data rate, the location of a user terminal and the type of the user terminal. A gateway 18 assigned for making a telephone call to a user terminal 13 integrates data and next transfers the data through a data network 39 on the ground to a ground operation control sensor 38. While using these data, a center determines a tariff which a service provider should demand payment corresponding to a service area, including the gateway. Further, while using these data, the center prepares statistical information expressing communication traffic to be handled by the gateway and derives predicted resource assignment and resource plan information for the gateway.

Therefore, the user terminal 13 can receive signals with sufficient strength and the automatic ending of speech in progressive can be prevented.

In this case, communication ability is obtained by selecting the route of the minimum attenuation or the combination of the routes of the minimum attenuation and evading the route for severely receiving the attenuation and is respectively distributed to desirable satellites 50a, 50b and 50c.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method which bidirectionally connects 1st and 2nd satellite communication system which operate with different protocols. SOLUTION: A 1st system uses a spread spectrum(SS) code division multiple access(CDMA) technique, and a satellite 12 functions as a repeater. A 2nd system uses a time division multiple access technique, and a protocol conversion unit 70G that is installed on the ground receives communication from either of the 1st and 2nd systems and converts transinformation into transinformation, which is suitable for the other systems. SS-CDMA transinformation is received by the 1st system, converted into a TDMA format, and further transmitted into the 2nd system. Next, communication is sent to a ground station of the 2nd system, after being relayed between at least two satellites and connected to a local public exchange telephone line network.
