    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a reproduced sound from being deteriorated by inserting an anchor made of a shape memory material and incorporating a tube delivering a sound wave to an external auditory miatus into the external auditory miatus so as to make the surface of the anchor in close contact with the external auditory miatus in a pleasant way thereby preventing leakage of an external noise. SOLUTION: An electroacoustic transducer 22 and a diaphragm 24 provided to an enclosure 20 formed in a plastic-made housing 14 are closely placed in a cooperative way, a cover 28 is fitted to a 2nd end 18 of the housing 14, and the conical shaped anchor 30 made of a hydrophilic urethane form 36 is removably fitted to the cover 28. The anchor 30 has elasticity and a righting moment to be expanded to the original shape after it is compressed, and a tube 46 to deliver a sound wave from a diaphragm 24 is built in a path 40 provided in the lengthwise direction. When a user press the anchor 30 by fingers and inserts it to the external auditory miatus, the foam 36 is expanded and mated to the external auditory miatus and in close contact therewith, softened by heat from the ear, resulting in more properly in close contact with the external auditory miatus to shut an external noise.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To attain excellent positioning and sound reproduction with high fidelity by providing an elastic support to the earphone. CONSTITUTION: A diameter of a diaphragm 18 is nearly equal to a diameter of a housing 12, and a protector plate 24 is fitted to the housing 12 to cover the diaphragm 18. Then an elastic support member 22 formed to be nearly a cylinder is fitted to the protector plate 24. The support member 22 has a shaft hole 22a extended about the entire length of the member 22. When the earphone is in use, the elastic member 22 is compressed and inserted in the auditory canal of the user, swollen again to provide sound wave connection with high fidelity between the diaphragm 18 of the earphone and the ear drum of the user. Thus, a transducer 14 is positioned in the entrance of the auditory canal of the user and the fidelity of sound is enhanced.

    Abstract: A dual element headphone (10) including a first acoustic transducer (28) mounted within a first housing so as to direct sound in a certain direction out of the first housing. The first housing is sized small enough so as to at least partially fit into the cavum concha of a listener's ear, and yet be larger in area than the entrance of the external acoustic meatus of the listener's ear. A second acoustic transducer (18) is mounted within a second housing. That second housing is substantially larger than the first housing, and overlies at least portion of the auricle of the listener's ear. A crossover circuit divides the electrical signals received by the headphone and transmits signals for higher frequencies to the first, smaller transducer and signals for lower frequencies to the second, larger transducer. The first transducer may be flexibly mounted for improved comfort and sound fidelity.
