    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bar code scanner platform in which a gain of an analog signal which indicates a bar code is controlled by means of a control loop. SOLUTION: An MTF detector 310 generates: a value that indicates a low frequency portion (various wide elements, that is, various elements that have different optical focal points) of an analog signal; and a second value that indicates a high frequency portion (various narrow elements, that is, various elements that have the same optical focal points) of the analog signal. A processor 308 uses the first value, the second value and a reference amplitude to calculate a gain IE signal. The processor 308 supplies the gain signal to an AGC circuit 304, and the circuit uses matching JFET to supply a linear response to the gain signal.
