Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of estimating the moving speed of a mobile terminal which is communicating with a base station through a transmission channel. SOLUTION: First, the facing in the channel is estimated (30) and a first autocorrelation result is obtained by autocorrelation of the fading (32). On the other hand, with various prescribed values of the moving speed of the mobile station, various reference autocorrelation results are previously calculated by using a known and an assumed fading autocorrelation functions (33). The first autocorrelation result is compared with the various reference autocorrelation results (34) to estimate the moving speed of the mobile station as a function of the comparison (36).

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To estimate the continuous value of a symbol by using viterbi algorithm. SOLUTION: An estimation process consists of a step for progressing the inside of a viterbi type trellis having MK states by making L-1 or less of k every stage, and a collection distance is given to the whole state of the whole stage. In the sample of a rank n, the whole transition reaching the various states of the current stage of the trellis is divided into M groups. Each group includes the whole transition produced from a fore stage related to one of the M symbols of the rank n-k. The transition giving a extreme collection distance is judged in the respective groups, the group giving the maximum or the minimum value out of the M extreme collection distances is determined, and a symbol reliable index is given.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decode an incident pulse signal of the ultra wideband type through digital processing. SOLUTION: The incident pulse signal of the ultra wideband type conveys digital information encoded by using pulses in a known theoretical shape. A decoding device is equipped with an input means which receives the incident signal and sends a base signal out, a preprocessing means which is so adapted as to receive the base signal and sends out an intermediate signal representing the code of the base signal with respect to a reference, a means which samples an intermediate ISN signal and sends a digital signal out, a synchronizing means, a decoding means, and a digital processing means which is so adapted as to correlate the digital signal with a reference correlation signal corresponding to a theoretical base signal arising from the reception of the theoretical pulses having the known theoretical shape.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved method and apparatus for signal and power conversion. SOLUTION: A resonant power converter (220) for ultra-efficient radio frequency transmission and associated methods are disclosed. In one embodiment, the converter is digitally actuated and uses a combination of a noise-shaped encoder (222), a charging switch (224), and a high-Q resonator (204) coupled to an output load (206), typically an antenna or transmission line. Energy is stored in the electric and magnetic fields of the resonator, which in turn, delivers power to the load (206), with very little wasted energy in the process. Active power amplifier is not required. The apparatus (220) can be used in an arbitrary RF signal application (wireless or others), including, for example cellular handsets, local- or wide-area network transmitters, or even radio base-stations. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a method and a device for estimating the speed of a mobile object in which the error tolerance is relatively small and which are not affected by the number of coefficients of channel impulse response in a radio communication system. SOLUTION: This method for estimating the speed of a mobile terminal (e.g. mobile telephone) communicating with a station in the radio communication system is provided. The speed estimating method includes a calculation (32) for normalization self-covariance of instantaneous power of a signal to be received by a terminal or station. It becomes possible to obtain results independent of the number of coefficients of channel impulse response, and the speed information having relatively small error limit can be acquired from the results.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a canceller circuit which can eliminate far-edge crosstalks, in a digital subscriber circuit transmission system. SOLUTION: This system includes a pre-compensation means which multiplies a vector S=(Si), where i is equal to 1 to n by a pre-compensation matrix M prior to transmission, so as to obtain a diagonal matrix product H*M. In this example, H is a transmission matrix of plural transmission channels as prescribed by R=H*S and R=(Ri), where i is equal to 1 to n is a vector of discrete multi-tone symbol Ri that is received by a modem. Such a system configuration is attained by a far-edge crosstalk eliminating circuit.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To monitor transmission power of a remote terminal, e.g. a cellular mobile telephone, by a method for optimizing the efficiency without sacrifice of the quality of a service being transmitted. SOLUTION: Transmission power is regulated depending on a power information item being received by a telephone. The telephone is provided with a variable gain amplifying means covering the power range and the values of the gain and supply voltage of the amplifying means are regulated depending on the power information item. The amplifying means comprises at least two separately selectable power amplifiers which can cover the entire power range together and have a specified operating zone and a common operating zone, respectively.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the estimate accuracy of impulse response of an information transmission channel of a cellular mobile telephone. SOLUTION: In this method, a widely spreading multipath is distinguished from modestly spreading multipath to estimate the impulse response in the information transmission channel. The maximum value is used for the number the coefficients of the impulse response, thereby generating a first estimated value of the impulse response of the transmission channel. A time region spreading parameter of the transmission channel is used as a function of the actual characteristics of the transmission channel to determine the useful number of the coefficients of the impulse response of the transmission channel. The finally estimated value is generated by taking the useful number of the coefficients into consideration.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable equivalent algorithm to be reduced in complexity and improved in performance. SOLUTION: A device is equipped with a receiver, an estimate means which executes the estimate of the impulse response of a transmission channel, a preprocessing block which obtains the impulse response that is minimally phase- shifted corresponding to the converted transmission channel on the basis of the estimated impulse response, a transmission means possessed of a filter which is capable of keeping the autocorrelation of the received signals and autocorrelation of the filtered signals equally and of filtering the received signals, and an equalizer which applies equalization processing to the filtered signals, taking the converted impulse response into consideration.
