    Abstract: A primer set and a real time PCR detecting set for detecting deer are provided to identify the existence of horns of reindeer, which is mixed with the young antlers of the deer, thereby securing the quality and reliability of the young antlers of the deer. A primer set for detecting deer includes a primer pair, which is specific to the deer and has sequences of SEQ ID : NOs. 1 and 2. A real time PCR detection set for detecting deer comprises the primer pair and a probe, which is specific to the deer and has a sequence of SEQ ID : NO. 3. A method for distinguishing materials derived from deer comprises the steps of: (a) subjecting DNA extracted from a sample to real time PCR using the real time PCR detection set; and (b) identifying the real time PCR result obtained from the step(a) to determine whether the sample is derived from the deer or the sample is mixed with materials derived from reindeer. Further, the sample is a cell of an organism, a tissue of the organism, an organ of the organism and a part of body.
