Abstract: PURPOSE: A substrate treatment apparatus and a substrate treatment method are provided to avoid the increase of a substrate treatment space and facilitates the loading/unloading of the substrates. CONSTITUTION: A substrate treatment apparatus has a rotor(24) holding a plurality of wafers(W), treatment chambers(26,27) in which the rotor(24) can be stored, a carrier waiting unit(30) which is provided outside the treatment chambers(26,27) and beneath the rotor(24) and on which a carrier(C) can be put, for waiting, a wafer transfer mechanism(40) which can be moved vertically, pushes the plurality of wafers(W) in the carrier(C) staying on the carrier waiting unit(30) upward to be held in the rotor(24), or makes the plurality of wafers(W) in the rotor(24) descend to be stored in the carrier(C) staying on the carrier waiting unit(30), and a carrier conveyance mechanism(35) which conveys the carrier(C) onto/from the carrier waiting unit(30). The plurality of wafers(W) held in the rotor(24) are subjected to predetermined treatments in the treatment chambers(26,27).
