    Abstract: PURPOSE: An electronic device and a control method thereof are provided to search an upper or lower rank directory of a present directory and offer a file search function which enables rapid movement into the upper or lower rank directory. CONSTITUTION: Storage(220) classifies files as a directory unit and stores it. A user input unit(230) receives the input of a user. A controller(240) displays the content of the selected first directory and the first directory, and indicates the second directory different from the first directory corresponding to a search to the determined direction by the input of the user in a display unit(210). A directory level of the second directory is similar or different with a directory level of the first directory. The search to the determined direction comprises a search to an upper or lower directory level of the first directory and a search in the directory level which the first directory belongs.
