Abstract: PURPOSE: An SIP(Session Initiation Protocol) server and a communication method between SIP terminals using the same are provided to allow call communication between SIP terminals positioned in a private network and in a private network or in a public network and in a private network without installing an additional function in an existing data network. CONSTITUTION: When a 'register' message is received from an origination SIP terminal, registration is performed, and then, when the registration is completed, a '200 OK' message is re-transmitted to the origination SIP terminal(S1). When an 'INVITE' message is received from the origination SIP terminal, a call connection request is transmitted to a receiver SIP terminal, and if line of the receiver SIP terminal is busy, a '180 Ringing' is re-transmitted, and then, when the receiver SIP terminal accepts media session information and allows call connection, a '200 OK' message and 'ACK' are re-transmitted(S2). An RTP(Real-time Transport Protocol) message is relayed between the origination SIP terminal and the receiver SIP terminal through the connected call and accepted media session information(S3).

Abstract: PURPOSE: A method for setting up calls by receiving an internet protocol(IP) address from a telephone in an internet telephony gateway is provided to directly receive the IP address from a telephone in an internet telephony gateway and connect the telephone to the internet without a table for transforming an extra IP address, so as to set up the calls. CONSTITUTION: An internet telephony gateway initiates a first and a second variable numbers. The first variable number is for displaying the number of digit inputted. The second variable number is for displaying the number of inputting special keys for displaying internet protocol(IP) addresses. If digits are inputted from a telephone connected to the internet telephony gateway, the internet telephony gateway increases the first variable number by 1. The internet telephony gateway decides whether the special keys are inputted from the telephone. If so, the internet telephony gateway increases a value of the second variable number by 1. The internet telephony gateway replaces data to the inputted special keys into '.'. The internet telephony gateway decides whether the second variable number value is more than or equal to 4. If so, the internet telephony gateway accesses a transmission control protocol/internet protocol(TCP/IP) network by using an IP address corresponding to the inputted digits and the special keys. The internet telephony gateway sets up calls through the TCP/IP network.
