Abstract: A backlight unit and a display device having the same are provided to form fixed pattern, which joins and fixes substrates adjacent to a vertical and/or a horizontal direction, in a side region of a substrate, thereby reducing a use of a fixing member and preventing the deterioration of brightness in a region adjacent to the substrates. A backlight unit comprises plural LED(Light Emitting Diode) units(110), at least a pair of first and second substrates(101a,102b), a first fixed pattern(120), a second fixed pattern(130), a containing member(200) and a first fixing member. The plural LED units are respectively built in the pair of first and second substrates. The first fixed pattern is provided in a side region of the first substrate. The second fixed pattern is provided in a side region of the second substrate to be overlapped with the first fixed pattern. The containing member contains the first and second substrates. The first fixing member is provided in a region adjacent to the first and second fixed regions to fix the first and second substrates to the containing member.
