Abstract: A backlight assembly having light emitted diodes is provided to improve color reproducibility and apply phosphors on exteriors of the light emitted diodes or a top side of a light guide plate to reduce damage of the phosphors due to generation of heat, thereby extending life of the light emitted diodes. Light emitted diodes(130) include two light emitting chips among a red light emitting chip, a green light emitting chip, and a blue light emitting chip. A light guide plate(200) receives light from the light emitted diodes. Phosphors(210) are applied to the light guide plate and emit light of the remnant light emitting chip except the light emitting chips included in the light emitted diodes.

Abstract: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to obtain uniform brightness by guiding light emitted from a lamp to a dark region using a light guide function of optical fibers. An LCD includes an LCD panel, a light source(60), and an optical plate(50). The light source is located behind the LCD panel. The optical plate is placed between the LCD panel and the light source and has a plurality of light guides(51) that connect a projecting plane facing the LCD panel to a light-receiving plane facing the light source. The interval of the light guides on the projecting plane is wider than the interval of the light guides on the light-receiving plane. The light guides include optical fibers. The optical plate is made of any one of poly methyl methaacrylate and poly carbonate and includes diffusion particles.
