    Abstract: A method for driving a display device is provided to generate excess brightness than regular value from a backlight unit. An LCD device comprises an image processor(110), a backlight unit(120), and an LCD panel(130). The image processor produces a converted image signal which is adaptable to the LCD panel, and generates brightness control signal which is needed for the backlight unit. The backlight unit generates proper amount light according to the brightness control signal to the LCD panel. The backlight unit comprises a driving part(121), and a light source(122). The driving part generates driving current for driving the light source unit based on the received brightness control signal. The LCD panel adjusts the transmittance rate of the light from the light source and displays image on the screen.
