Abstract: A structure for fixing an electronic expansion valve and an air conditioner having the same are provided to prevent the deterioration of refrigerant control performance resulted from the introduction of condensed water between a body part and a step motor by fixing the electronic expansion valve with a predetermined inclination with respect to the gravity direction. Abstract: An air conditioner and a control method for an electronic expansion valve thereof are provided to enlarge an opening degree of the electronic expansion valve from a time point that a compressor frequency is changed from a hold frequency to a target frequency after the compressor is initiated to operate in heating mode, thereby making refrigerant flow smooth to reduce a load applied to the compressor in overload conditions. In a method for controlling an electronic expansion valve of an air conditioner, a compressor is initiated to operate with a hold frequency for a predetermined time in response to heating operation input from a user. Until the stopped compressor is initiated to operate at the hold frequency, an electronic expansion valve is almost closed for preventing oil from being introduced into a refrigerant flow. During the compressor operation at the hold frequency, the electronic expansion valve is opened by a first opening degree so that a small amount of refrigerant flows to the refrigerant flow. If the operation frequency of the compressor is raised from the hold frequency to a target frequency, the electronic expansion valve is opened by a second opening degree, which is larger than the first one.
