    Abstract: An apparatus for converting a frame rate and a method for converting the frame rate are provided to convert the frame rate by using only an interpolation image, in which motion is compensated, thereby reducing flicker and displaying a smooth video. A method for converting the frame rate comprises the following steps of: comparing the current frame of an input video signal with a previous frame, estimating motion between frames, and calculating an MV(Motion Vector)(S610,S620); and generating an interpolation image, in which motion is compensated, based on the MV by using a frame close to a compensation point out of the current frame and previous frame of the input video signal(S630).
