Abstract: An electrophoretic display is provided to improve response speed by preventing a collision between particles having different polarities, and to improve color reproduction and display quality by preventing mixing of particles having different colors. In a first display substrate(100), at least one pixel area(PA) where an image is displayed is defined. A second display substrate(200) faces the first display substrate and coupled with the first display substrate. An electrophoretic layer includes plural particles which have the same polarity and color and are formed in the pixel area, and is interposed between the first and second display substrates. The first display substrate comprises a first base substrate(110) in which the pixel area is defined, a first electrode(123) which is prolonged from the upper part of the first base substrate to the second display substrate, formed in the pixel area, and receives first voltage, a second electrode(124) which is formed in the pixel area, faces the first electrode, and receives second voltage having different polarity from the first voltage.
