Abstract: PURPOSE: A DVD(Digital Versatile Disc) audio disk mechanism is provided to record audio data of multiple channels with keeping compatibility with a DVD-video disk player and to extend the audio data in an area for recording non-audio data including a video area and a sub-picture area. CONSTITUTION: In a DVD audio disk mechanism, a video attribute of a VTS(Video Title Set) has an extended audio data mode. A sub-picture attribute of the VTS has an extended audio data mode, and a video stream has an extended audio stream header. The sub-picture stream has an extended audio stream head, and the extended audio stream header includes an area for saving audio coding mode, sampling frequency, quantization bit and usage data of the extended audio data. The usage area of the extended audio data keeps an area for displaying bit extension, bandwidth extension and channel extension of the extended audio data. In a recording mode, one of a video pack and a sub-picture pack is made to an audio pack for recording the extended audio data. In a playback mode, playback data of a basic audio pack are mixed with the extended audio pack. Thereby, the audio data are played back.
