Abstract: A glycogen synthase kinase-3-beta activity inhibitor including Magnoliae Cortex extracts is provided to prevent GSK-3beta activity excellent and to prevent or treat effectively diseases including a degenerative brain disease and diabetes generated by the activity of the GSK-3beta. A glycogen synthase kinase-3-beta activity inhibitor composition comprises a honokiol or a magnolol as an active ingredient which is derived from Magnoliae Cortex extracts and is used as treating agent for a degenerative brain disease and diabetes.

Abstract: A composition for preventing and treating cerebrovascular disease, containing a compound isolated from alpinia officinarum hance is provided to be used as prevention and therapeutic agent for brain disorders by controlling the neural apoptosis at the ischemic area. A composition for preventing and treating cerebrovascular disease comprises a compound of the chemical formula 1 and a compound of the chemical formula 2 as an active ingredient. The compound is separated from the chloroform, ethylacetate or acetone fractionation of alpinia officinarum hance.
