    Abstract: An apparatus of evaluating performance of a turbocharger with a pulsator is provided to test performance of the turbocharger in a manner as if the turbocharger is mounted on an actual engine by generating pulsating flow in compressed air introduced into a turbine unit. An apparatus of evaluating performance of a turbocharger with a pulsator includes inlet pipes(1), outlet pipes(2), a compressed air supply unit(3), temperature and pressure sensing units(4), flow sensing units(5), and a rotation number sensing unit(6). The inlet pipes and the outlet pipes are installed at inlets and outlets of a turbine unit(10) and a compressing unit(20). The compressed air supply unit supplies compressed air to the inlet pipe of the turbine unit by generating pulsating flow in the compressed air. The temperature and pressure sensing units are installed at the inlet pipes and the outlet pipes to sense temperatures and pressure at the inlets and the outlets of the turbine unit and the compressing unit and output sensing data to a control unit. The flow sensing units are installed at the outlet pipe of the turbine unit and the inlet pipe of the compressing unit to sense flow and output sensing data to the control unit. The rotation number sensing unit senses a rotation number of the turbocharger and outputs the sensed data to the control unit.

    Abstract: An apparatus of measuring inertia moment of a turbocharger using photo sensors is provided to prevent degradation of engine performance caused due to an error of the measurement. An apparatus of measuring inertia moment of a turbocharger includes a support unit(1), a weight(2), a power supply unit(3), an oscilloscope(4), a first photo sensor(5) and a second photo sensor, and a controller(7). The support unit supports the turbocharger including a turbine unit(20) and a compression unit(30) spaced apart from ground. The weight is arranged to be dropped through the string wound onto a rotary shaft(10) which interconnects the turbine unit and the compression unit. The power supply unit supplies 24V current to the rotary shat. The oscilloscope measures fluctuation of current in accordance with the rotation of the rotary shaft. The first and second photo sensors are arranged to sense dropping of the weight in accordance with the rotation of the rotary shaft. The controller takes, as an input, data from the oscilloscope and the first and second photo sensors, and estimates inertia moment of the turbocharger.
