Abstract: PURPOSE: An artificial bone filler using calcium phosphate based compounds and a preparation method are provided to have not only the high bone fusion rate and tensile strength, but also the relatively high bio-absorbency. CONSTITUTION: The artificial bone filler is prepared by: formulating at least one selected from the group consisting of magnesium oxide(MgO), calcium pyrophosphate substituted by Mg(Ca2-XMgXP2O7), magnesium pyrophosphate(Mg2P2O7) and calcium magnesium pyrophosphate(CaMg2P2O7), and calcium pyrophosphate powders selected from the group consisting of calcium pyrophosphate(Ca2P2O7) or not more than 10 wt.% of tricalcium phosphate(Ca3(PO4)2); press-forming the compounds to a porous body; and sintering it at the temperature of 1000 to 1200 deg.C.

Abstract: A bone graft substitute using magnesium substituted calcium phosphate compounds and a method of manufacturing the same is provided in which the bone graft substitute is used for recovering bones damaged due to a bone fracture. The method of manufacturing a bone graft substitute includes the steps of mixing powdered calcium pyrophosphate and a magnesium included compound to thereby obtain a composition, pressure-forming the compositions to obtain a plastic body; and sintering the plastic body.
