    Abstract: PURPOSE: A red fluorescent protein FmRed(fast maturating red fluorescent protein) is provided to use in continuous reaction system such as fluorescence resonance energy transfer(FRET). CONSTITUTION: A red fluorescent protein FmRed is formed by elongation of MGS amino acids at N-terminal and CGSPG amino acids at C-terminal. The FmRed has an amino acid sequence of sequence number 2. A FmRed gene contains nucleotide sequence of sequence number 1. A method for preparing FmRed using elongation mutagenesis PCR comprises: a step of performing PCR of defective gene of wild type DsRed to construct a mutant gene library; a step of introducing the library into each cell to express mutant protein; and a step of selecting mutant protein having quick fluorescence and dark red.
